
Strong Finish for Men’s Golf at Nassau Invitational

GLEN COVE, N.Y. – Senior Blake Wisdom and freshman James Robbins shot matching 1-under-par 69s to post top-10 finishes at the Nassau Invitational, which wrapped up on Tuesday at Nassau Country Club. Bucknell closed with a 5-over 285 team score and finished in third place as a team in its final event of the fall season.
Wisdom and Robbins both made four birdies against three bogeys in the third and final round. Wisdom finished at 5-over 215 (70-76-69) over 54 holes, good for a tie for fifth place in the field of 57 players. Robbins placed T-9th at 7-over 217 (75-73-69) after posting his first collegiate under-par round. Tyler Gerbavsits of St. John's was the medalist at 2-under 208 (72-68-68), four shots better than Army's Dragon Theam.
Michael Rudnick also had a strong tournament for the Bison, shooting 73-72-73 to finish T-11th. Andres Barraza closed with a 74, his best outing of the week, and Josh Holtschlag's 76 was not needed.
Indy James Key finished with a 75 after posting 75-72 a day earlier.
St. John's shot 858 for the tournament and finished 13 strokes in front of runner-up Army and 15 in front of Bucknell. Host LIU was fourth at 877, followed by Robert Morris (885), Le Moyne (900), La Salle (902), Merrimack (918), and Manhattan (922).
The Bison will next be in action at the Loyola Intercollegiate at Palm Valley GC in Goodyear, Ariz., Feb. 26-28.
