LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell women's track & field completed the first day of the Bison Open and Multi meet Friday, and the team continued to impress with personal bests and a win in the distance medley relay.
"We got exactly what we were hoping to get from our women on day one. Our multis were very solid, and Eisold is developing some consistency. Our freshmen and sophomore DMR teams went 1-2 with some nice splits, and O'Sullivan continues to impress in the shot put with a nice second-place finish of 14 meters, which moves her to number eight all-time. Zucker had a nice finish in the pole vault with a season-best mark, all of our hurdlers made the finals, and we had some nice PRs in the 200. Our two 5k runners had collegiate-best times as well," said head coach Kevin Donner.
Bucknell's distance medley relay teams earned the top two spots at the meet. The first-place finishers (Lauren Trapani, Katherine Loew, Anna Posh, Keeley Misutka) ran the event in 12:22.60, while the second-place squad (Eva Lindner, Colleen Linko, Hailey Tabar, Ally Clarke) posted a 12:28.35.
Bucknell also saw a host of second-place individual finishers, beginning with Meghan Quinn in the 200. The sophomore ran a 25.47, just missing her all-time mark. Also posting solid times in the 200 were senior Michaela Bracken (4th, 25.74) and junior Jessie Castellano (5th, 26.04).
Sophomore Laura Sakol took second in the 5000 (18:55.83), while fellow sophomore Meghan Smith took fourth (19:20.66).
Siobhan O'Sullivan, who has been strong in the shot put all season, moved up a spot in Bucknell's all-time top 10 from ninth to eighth with a 45-11.25. Her mark was good enough for second at the meet.
All three Bison competing in the 60m hurdles reached the finals, and sophomore Emily Grubb led the group with a third-place finish (9.25). Teammate Noel Fullman was just behind her (4th, 9.26). Also in the field, sophomore Hadley Zucker impressed with a second-place finish in pole vault (11-03.75).
Sophomore Abby Eisold grabbed a third-place finish in the pentathlon with 3,004 points, winning the 60m hurdles (9.14), taking third in long jump (16-06.50) and placing fourth in shot put (31-04.50).
Bucknell returns to the Gerhard Fieldhouse on Saturday to finish out the meet, while others will compete at Penn State's Sykes and Sabock Challenge.
