Women's Tennis Hosts Villanova for First Dual Match

Bucknell at a Glance
• Bucknell is set to open its dual match schedule against Villanova on Saturday at 2 p.m. The tilt between the Bison and Wildcats will be held at the Central PA Tennis Center in nearby South Williamsport.
• Bucknell went 5-5 (2-3 PL) in the spring of 2021, most notably scoring a 4-2 victory over rival Lehigh in the Patriot League Tournament quarterfinals.
• The Bison posted a 6-3 (0-0 PL) record during their 2019-20 season that was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They won five of their final six matches that season, with two coming by 7-0 margins.
• Bucknell is captained by senior Daniela Bellini, a two-time All-Patriot League selection.
• The Bison lost three student-athletes to graduation following the 2021 spring season, including two-time All-Patriot League performer Cayla Koch.

A Look Back at the Bison's 2021 FallÂ
• The Bison hosted the Bucknell Invitational (Sept. 3-4) and attended Navy's Bill & Sandra Moore Invitational (Sept. 10-12) and Toledo's Rocket Invite (Oct. 1-2) during the fall of 2021.
• At the Bucknell Invitational, which was cut a day short due to rain, Daniela Bellini and Whitney King reached the 'A' singles finals. They also would have played in the championship match at 'A' doubles.
• In addition, Laurel Utterback earned a spot in the 'B' singles finals; she also would have teamed with Anna Lajos in the 'B' doubles finals against Bison teammates Kate Novak and Caroline Marcus.
• At the Bill & Sandra Moore Invitational, King captured the 'B' Courage singles crown while Lajos took first in the C' Commitment singles bracket. King also teamed with Bellini for a championship at 'A' Honor doubles.
• On the strength of her performance in Annapolis, Md., King became the first women's tennis player to earn Bison Athlete of the Week laurels during the fall since 2009.
• At the Rocket Invite, Bellini and King improved their doubles record to an impressive 8-1.
