Women's Tennis Faces Patriot League Road Slate

LEWISBURG, Pa. — Bucknell women's tennis is set for its Patriot League road weekend as it takes on Loyola (Md.) and Navy in back-to-back matches on Saturday, March 21 at noon and Sunday, March 22 at 11 a.m.
The Bison enter the weekend 7-7 overall and 0-2 in the Patriot League after defeating Chaminade in their last time out. The Greyhounds enter the weekend 0-7 overall and 0-1 in the Patriot League after falling to Army. The Midshipmen enter the weekend 13-4 overall on an eight-game winning streak.

Bucknell's Last Time Out:
- Bucknell women's tennis blanked Chaminade on Monday afternoon as it took a 7-0 win while not dropping a single match. With the victory, Bucknell moves to 7-7 overall.
- Chaminade only had five players compete in the dual match which meant that the Bison got automatic wins in No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles to start off the afternoon.
- With the No. 3 doubles match being an automatic win for Bucknell, the Bison only needed one more win to secure the doubles point, but ended up taking both the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles contests. Abby Platt and Mirra Manolov defeated Selena Buttery and Berlylin Lau 6-0 in No. 1 doubles. Tori Allen and Summer Even-Esh rounded out doubles play as they defeated Hannah Lewis and Danica Palmer 6-0 in No. 2 doubles.
- Bucknell went 5-0 in singles matches played and 6-0 overall with the No. 6 singles being an automatic Bison win. Two of the singles matches ended in shutouts as Cameron King defeated Buttery in No. 3 singles 6-0, 6-0 and Mariana Shulman defeated Palmer in No. 4 singles 6-0, 6-0. Jaycie Mair earned a No. 1 singles win as she bested Lau in the closest match of the day 6-3, 6-2. Natalie Devraj defeated Lewis 6-1, 6-0 and rounding out the overall match was Kate Purpura who won her No. 5 singles match over Carine Bleasdell 6-1, 6-1.
Bucknell at a Glance
- Mirra Manolov leads the Bison in singles wins this year with 12 overall and six dual singles wins across courts two, four, five and six.
- The doubles team of Abby Platt and Riley Jennings lead the team in overall doubles wins with 10 overall on court one; they have seven dual doubles victories.
- The doubles team of Cameron King and Natalie Devraj lead the Bison in dual doubles wins with eight on court three.
- Abby Platt earned Patriot League Women's Tennis Player of the Week (3/3) after going 5-1 overall in No. 1 singles and doubles play against Army, Duquesne and Michigan State.
- Most recently, Bucknell went 1-1 on its spring break trip with a 7-0 win over Chaminade and a 7-0 loss to Hawaii.
- So far this spring season, the Bison have defeated Saint Joseph's, Mount St. Mary's, Merrimack, Duquesne, Chaminade and Mercyhurst. Bucknell has fallen to Boston U., Temple, Army, Michigan State, Saint Francis, University of Hawaii and Villanova.
- In the fall, at the ITA Conference Masters Championship, Abby Platt made it to the quarterfinal round, Riley Jennings was eliminated in the round-of-16 and the doubles group of Platt and Jennings lost in their quarterfinals match.
- Bucknell played in one dual match in the fall with the Bison coming out on top of Millersville 5-2, winning all doubles matches and four-of-six singles matches.
- The Bison played three tournaments in the fall, one at home and two on the road. Bucknell tested out doubles teams in the fall tournaments in order to finalize the groups heading into the spring season.
- Bucknell women's tennis ended the 2024-25 season with a heartbreaking 4-3 loss in the quarterfinal round of the Patriot League Championships to Lehigh.
- The team landed two players on the 2025 All-Patriot League squad; Whitney King earned a first-team nod and Abby Platt earned second-team honors.
- Heading into the 2025-26 season, the Bison had to restructure their lineup after losing three integral players to graduation in Whitney King, Anna Lajos and Caroline Marcus, who were all in the lineup last season.
- Seniors Abby Platt and Mirra Manolov have been named captains for the 2025-26 season.
- Outside of Platt earning Second Team All-Patriot League last season, she has also found her way onto the record book ahead of her senior season. The Texas native currently ranks 11th in Bucknell history for career doubles victories (60), is tied for 27th in career singles victories (45), ranks 19th in career combined victories (105) and is tied for 10th in single-season doubles victories (22). Last season, Platt went 10-15 in the second spot for singles play. Platt and King were doubles partners and went 18-8 in the one spot. Platt has been doubles partners with King since she first arrived as a freshman in 2022 and will now be looking for a new partner to finish out her career.
- The Bison welcomed a freshman class of three this fall; Summer Even-Esh, Katherine Purpura and Mariana Shulman.
Loyola (Md.) at a Glance
- The Greyhounds enter the weekend 0-7 overall and 0-1 in the Patriot League after falling to Army 4-1.
- The other losses came at the hands of Villanova, Marist, Mount St. Mary's, George Washington, Maryland and Seton Hall.
- In its last time out, Army West Point defeated the Loyola University Maryland women's tennis team, 4‑1 at the McClure Tennis Center. The Black Knights claimed the doubles point by winning two completed matches. In singles play, Army West Point secured three victories to clinch the match.
Navy at a Glance
- The Midshipmen enter the weekend 13-4 overall as they get set for their first Patriot League contest.
- The lone four losses came from Virginia Tech, Liberty, Ball State and Notre Dame.
- Nicole Fu leads the team in overall singles wins with 21 across courts one two and three.
- Emma Gu leads the team in dual singles wins with nine.
- The doubles team of Olivia Fermo and Nicole Fu leads the team in both overall doubles wins (15) and dual doubles wins (5).
