RESULTS
NEW HAVEN, Pa. – Bucknell was one of seven teams in the field of 14 that finished 36 holes before darkness set in, and the Bison posted team scores of 297-296 on Saturday at the Macdonald Cup, hosted by Yale. Bucknell is in 13th place in a strong field with 18 holes still to come on Sunday.
Jackson Bussell was the low Bison for the day, firing a pair of 1-over par 71s to sit in a tie for 12th place on the individual leaderboard. Bussell made two birdies in each round and nothing worse than bogey all day. His 142 total is eight behind the leader, Will Anderson of Michigan, who shot 66-68 for a 6-under composite of 134.
Jason Lohwater also opened with a 71 that featured four birdies including two in a row at 16 and 17. Lohwater followed with 15 pars and a birdie on the way to an afternoon 74. Only a two-hole bump in the road at 8 and 9 separated him from a round in red numbers.
Freshman Jake Maddaloni shook off an opening-round 79 with a solid 73 in the afternoon. Blake Wisdom shot a pair of 78s, and freshman John Bradbeer shot 77-79 in his collegiate debut.
Host Yale has the team lead with a 4-under 556 (274-282), which is five shots better than Michigan and 12 ahead of third-place Harvard.
Teams still needing to finish the final two holes of their second round will return to the course at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday. The third and final round will get underway shortly thereafter.
