About the Bison
- Bucknell is back in tournament action for the first time in three weeks as the Bison head to Yale for the Macdonald Cup. A strong field features six Ivy League teams along with a top-100 team in Michigan.
- Bucknell's first event of the year was Colgate's Alex Lagowitz Memorial Invitational back on Sept. 4-5. After opening with a 293 team score, the Bison slipped out of contention after finishing 298-302 and ended up in 10th place.
- Jason Lohwater shot a 3-under-par 69 in the first round, the best score of the week among Bucknell's six-man contingent. Lohwater finished with 74-76 and took T-13th.
- Other top finishers at Colgate were Jackson Bussell with three straight 74s, and Jack Gardner with 73-73-77.
- Freshmen Michael Rudnick (77-77-75) and Jake Maddaloni (78-77-80) made their collegiate debuts at Colgate.
- Lohwater will play from the No. 1 spot this week at Yale, followed by Bussell, Blake Wisdom, Maddaloni and John Bradbeer. This will be the first collegiate tournament for the freshman Bradbeer.
The Bison at the Macdonald Cup
- The Bison competed at the Macdonald Cup for three straight years from 2017-19, before last year's event was canceled due to COVID-19. Bucknell has also made numerous appearances at Yale's spring tournament through the years.
- At the Macdonald Cup, the Bison placed 10th in 2017, ninth in 2018, and fourth in 2019.
- In that most recent appearance two seasons ago, Bucknell finished fourth behind Minnesota, Princeton and Yale. Then-freshman Blake Wisdom was the low Bison for the week, finishing T-13th with a 54-hole total of 217 (76-68-73). Jason Lohwater (74-70-74) and Jackson Bussell (72-73-74) also played in that event and will be returning this week.
- Bucknell won Yale's spring invitational in April 2016 with rounds of 295-300. John Edler was the runner-up individually, while Connor O'Brien (T-9th, 73-76) and J.P. Raftery (T-27th, 76-77) were also in the lineup for that event. The Bison were also runner-up there in the spring of 2019.
- Bucknell played at Yale six times between 1972-80, twice at the Eastern Championships and four times in Yale's fall invitational. The team's best finish was eighth in Yale's event in the fall of 1978.
Next Up
- Bucknell will be off until Oct. 10-12 when it hosts its annual fall tournament. The Bucknell Invitational will be a three-day event for the first time.
