Bucknell Men's Cross Country Heads to Saint Francis (Pa.) for Dual Meet

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell University men's cross country team is set to compete at the Father Bede Invite on Saturday at the Immergrun Golf Course in Loretto, Pa. Saturday's race is set for a 10 a.m. start. Head Coach Kevin Donner returns to Loretto, where he coached the Red Flash from 1995-2001. Donner was later inducted into the SFU Hall of Fame in 2015.

"It's a small meet with just Saint Francis and ourselves," said Donner. "I like the dual meet concept because you don't see many of them at the collegiate level, and the runners cannot hide in a crowd. Every place matters. Their course is very challenging and hilly, and I want to give my team a great training stimulus and challenge them to negotiate this course and maintain their focus. Saint Francis has some very good runners, and being at home gives them a great advantage. We can't wait for the challenge. After this meet, we have a great three-week training block to set us up for the Paul Short Run at Lehigh, which looks like a very competitive meet this year."

Bucknell opened its fall season strongly, winning the Bison Open in its first home meet since the 2018 Patriot League Championships. The Bison earned the top six runners at the meet (15 points) to outpace second-place Lafayette (49).

Michael Donnelly took home first (20:29.8) in his collegiate debut just edging out teammate Brendan Mellitt (20:30.0) for the top spot.

First-year Stephen Schousen placed third, followed by Brendan O'Toole, Harry Marson, and Owen Chase. Ryan Miele also earned a top-ten finish for the Bison.

Bucknell will have a lengthy break after the Father Bede Invite. The Bison are scheduled to compete next at the Paul Short Invite on Friday, October 1 at a time to be determined.
