Baseball Drops Sunday Matchup at UConn

Bucknell (10-19), trailed 1-0 to start the game after an error in the outfield allowed Kyler Fedko of UConn to score from second on a double by Reggie Crawford.
Bucknell found its offensive groove after being limited to two hits in the opening game of the weekend in the third inning. Kyle Lyons started things off by singling up the middle, before Anthony Sherwin reached on a fielder's choice. Sherwin stole second, before being brought home by back-to-back singles from Chris Cannizzaro and Jacob Corson.
Peter Marren was then hit by a pitch on an 0-2 count to load the bases, before Eunsang Yu walked on a full count to score Cannizzaro from third. An error by the Huskies allowed Corson to score on a fielder's choice, before Caleb Broughton used a sac fly to score Marren for Bucknell's final run of the inning for a 4-1 lead.
The lead would be short-lived however, as the Huskies managed four hits in the bottom of the third, with the latter two runs coming from a wild pitch and a passed ball.
Bucknell pulled within 6-5 in the fifth on an RBI single from Yu that scored Corson, but the Huskies pulled away in the sixth, scoring six runs on six hits to take a 13-6 win.
Bucknell scored its final run in the ninth, when Jacob Terwilliger homered for the first time in his career after entering the game in the inning as a pinch hitter.
Cannizzaro managed three hits on the day, the fifth time this season the junior has hit three times in a single game. Corson also managed a multi-hit day (2-for-4) while scoring two runs and adding an RBI. Broughton (2-for-3) collected his fourth multi-hit game in his last six appearances for the Orange and Blue.
Bucknell will now turn its attention to a midweek fixture at Saint Joseph's on Wednesday, May 5 at 3:30 p.m.
