About the Bison
- Bucknell earned its first clean sheet of the season in a tightly-contested 0-0 draw against Colgate at Emmitt Field last Saturday. Â
- The Bucknell backline featured two Bison making their first start of the season in Eamon O'Connor and Matthew Owusu. Â The start for the former was the first since 2017, while Owusu made his first start after appearing for 35 minutes against Navy.
- The clean sheet for the Bison was the first for the squad since the Bison shutout the Mids in the Patriot League Quarterfinals last season in a 2-0 win. Â
- Bennett Schwartz made three key saves for the Bison in the tie, holding a Colgate team off the board that had entered the game having scored in each of its past two fixtures. Â The three saves were tied for his season best for the sophomore from Chevy Chase, Md. Â
- Schwartz, along with junior defender Colin Eifert and senior Cody Wax, are the only three Bison who have played and started all five matches this season. Â Schwartz and Eifert have played every minute so far this season, while Wax has played 444 of a total of 470 minutes to date. Â
- After not managing a shot in its first game of the season, the Bison have averaged just over 11 shots per game in the four games since. Â
- Trevor Wiggins leads the team in shots on goal this season with four, with two of those accounting for goals. Â Eifert is second on the team with two shots on target. Â
- Senior Kevin Gulizio also made his first start of the season on Saturday, while first year forward Braeden Glass made his first appearance for the Orange and Blue in coming off of the bench for 16 minutes.
About Loyola/Series History Â
- The Greyhounds enter the game at 2-1-1 after a big win over Navy on Wednesday evening to enter into a three-way tie for first place in the Patriot League South DivisionÂ
- Bucknell is three points behind at three points, and owns the tiebreaker over American, while Navy holds the tiebreaker with Bucknell. With a win over Loyola, the Bison could potentially make the Patriot League Tournament, pending other results around the league. Â
- Loyola has three points through three games, which puts the Greyhounds level with the Bison and Lehigh for third in the Patriot League South Division.Â
- The two teams last met in Lewisburg on October 2, 2019. Â The Greyhounds' win over the Bison was the first in the series history between the two schools, as Bucknell holds a 7-1 advantage in the all-time series. Â
- Loyola scored the winning goal in the 55th minute on a cross from Albert Kang that found Jonathan Sousa at the back post. Â
