Softball Plays Final Road Series of Regular Season at Army This Weekend

About the Bison
• Bucknell hits the road for its final road series of the regular season this weekend. The Bison will face Army in West Point, N.Y. for doubleheader action on both Saturday and Sunday. The series is an important one for the Bison, who sit tied for third in Patriot League standings and are two games behind second-place Colgate.
• Senior Jess Hom is coming off one of her best series of the season at Lehigh. Hom went 5-for-12 at the plate with a double and an RBI. Hom's double in the top of the eighth in game one against the Mountain Hawks drove in the game-winning run, and she was recognized as an honorable mention for Patriot League Player of the Week for her efforts.
• Rookie Niki Mabry also had one of her better weekends as a Bison. Mabry went 4-for-12 with a run scored and reached three times on walks. Her four hits were matched by junior Sarah Baluch, who added a pair of doubles to her career total. Senior Jazmyn Stokes posted two doubles as well in a 3-for-6 weekend.
• Rookie Zoie Smith led the Bison in RBIs last weekend despite recording just one hit. Smith's three-run home run in Bucknell's win over Lehigh was her sixth homer of the season, and she leads the Bison in the category. Smith also leads the Bison with 22 RBIs this season.
• Taylor Wolfgang is third on the team with 16 RBIs and added three more hits over the weekend to tie for second on the roster with 20 this spring.
• As a team, Bucknell ranks second in the Patriot League with 16 home runs. Bucknell also leads the league in fielding percentage (.971).
• From the pitching staff, sophomore Kaiya Burton started two of fours game last weekend and leads the Bison with 10 starts on the year. She's 4-6 on the season with a 3.36 ERA. Olivia Marinelli and Kelly Toomey both have 11 appearances. Toomey trails Burton in strikeouts by just one (45).
Scouting the Black Knights
• Army is fifth in league standings at 7-12 overall and is 4-8 against league opponents. The Black Knights are coming off a 1-3 weekend against Colgate. They also have two wins over Lehigh and one over Boston U. Army is the only Patriot League team to defeat the Terriers so far.
• The Black Knights are batting .249 this season and rank fifth in the Patriot League with a 4.14 team ERA.
• Sophomore Angelina Bebek leads the Black Knights in hits (22) and is batting .349 this season. She's followed closely by senior Ally Snelling's 18 hits and .346 average.
• Sophomore Alicyn Grete has started a team-high 11 games in the circle for Army and is 3-7. She sports a 3.37 ERA. Junior Jolie Duong has a team-best 2.48 ERA in nine appearances. She's 5-1 this spring.
Series History with the Black Knights
• Bucknell is 43-63 in all-time meetings with Army dating back to 1991. The Bison are 2-8 over the last 10 meetings.
• Bucknell and Army last met in April 2019. The Black Knights took two of the three games in West Point, N.Y. that weekend, but the Bison picked up a 6-1 win in the middle of the series. Jess Hom was 4-for-10 in the 2019 series, including a 3-for-3 showing at the plate in the first game.
