About the Bison
- Bucknell and Lehigh will square off in a dual match on Saturday in Lewisburg to get in one last competitive round before next week's Patriot League Championship.Â
- Both teams have had good spring seasons thus far. The Bison have four top-three finishes in five events, including a win at the Battle at Rum Pointe on March 27-28. Lehigh won the Abarta Coca-Cola Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Lafayette, last weekend, and then the Mountain Hawks defeated the arch-rival Leopards in a Ryder Cup-style dual match on Tuesday.Â
- In its first four events this spring, Bucknell finished 2nd-1st-T2nd-3rd. In addition to the win at Rum Pointe, the Bison took second at the Carpetbagger Classic and the Rolling Green Intercollegiate, and third at the Wildcat Invitational.Â
- Last week, Bucknell was a late entry into Penn State's Rutherford Intercollegiate. The Bison finished 12th as a team, with Jackson Bussell leading the way with a T-16th finish after rounds of 71-74-72.Â
- Bussell has an individual win for Bucknell this spring. He won in a playoff at the Battle at Rum Pointe. One week earlier, Jack Gardner was tied after 36 holes but lost in a playoff at the Carpetbagger.
- Bussell owns the team's low scoring average this spring at 73.3. Blake Wisdom (74.0), Chris Tanabe (74.3) and Gardner (74.4) are close behind.Â
- Saturday's match with Lehigh will utilize a play-6, count-4 format to emulate the Patriot League Championship. Bucknell's six-man lineup will feature Bussell, Wisdom, Tanabe, Gardner, Jason Lohwater and Josh Holtschlag. Max Orwicz and Dylan Ford will tee it up as individuals.Â
- The 2021 Patriot League Championship will be hosted by Navy on May 1-2.Â
