About the Bison

Bucknell has played in two tournaments this spring and has a second-place finish and a victory, good for a 16-1 head-to-head record.
The Bison have held the first-round lead in both events. They settled for runner-up position behind Fairleigh Dickinson at the Carpetbagger Classic at Worthington Manor CC on March 20-21, but last week Bucknell broke through with a victory the Battle at Rum Pointe on the Maryland shore.
The Bison opened with a 1-under-par 287 at the Rum Pointe Seaside Links last week, then finished with a 301 win windy conditions on Sunday. That was good for a three-shot win over runner-up Youngstown State.
Bucknell has had sophomores reach a playoff in both tournaments. Jack Gardner lost on the second playoff hole at the Carpetbagger, and last week Jackson Bussell defeated Iona's Justin Burkhamer with a birdie on the third playoff hole.
Bussell shot 1-under 143 (71-72) over 36 holes last week, and he was named the Patriot League Golfer of the Week after notching his first collegiate win.
Gardner and Blake Wisdom -- both T-9th -- also had top-10 finishes at Rum Pointe.
Gardner (73.0) and Bussell (73.3) have the team's low scoring averages through four rounds this spring. Chris Tanabe (75.8), Wisdom (76.0) and Jason Lohwater (77.0) are next. Lohwater owns the low round of the spring with his opening 69 last week.
Bussell, Wisdom, Gardner, Lohwater, Tanabe and Josh Holtschlag will tee it up on Saturday in the play-six, count-four format at Rolling Green GC. The course played host to the 2016 U.S. Women's Amateur
One unusual element to this week's tournament is that teams will play in groups of three with their own teammates.
