SPRINGFIELD, Pa. -- Another week, another top-two finish for the Bucknell men's golf team. The Bison posted a 287 team score on Saturday at the Rolling Green Intercollegiate, just two shots behind champion Rhode Island. Monmouth also shot 287 to tie Bucknell for second place, and the Bison and Hawks finished six shots clear of fourth-place Lafayette, Villanova and Saint Joseph's.
The one-day, 18-hole event at Rolling Green GC had five Patriot League teams in the field, and Bucknell bested them all. In addition to Lafayette's fourth-place finish, Navy (297) placed seventh, Lehigh (298) eighth and Colgate (302) 10th.Â
Blake Wisdom led the Bison with an even-par 70. He was one of five players in the field to shoot even par or better and finished in a tie for third place. Monmouth's Erik Stevens was the medalist with a 2-under 68, one better than Villanova's Noah Peck.Â
Bucknell also counted 72s from Jack Gardner and Chris Tanabe and a 73 from Jason Lohwater. Jackson Bussell's 78 and Josh Holtschlag's 84 were discarded in the play-six, count-four format.Â
In three events this spring, the Bison now have a win and two second-place finishes, good for a 25-2-1 head-to-head record.
The Bison will be back in action Apr. 12-13 at Villanova's Wildcat Invitational at Radnor Valley CC. Â
