Men's Golf Moves Up One Spot at Penn State

RESULTS
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Jackson Bussell posted a 1-over-par 72, and Chris Tanabe and Blake Wisdom both carded 73s on Sunday as the Bucknell men's golf team wrapped up play at Penn State's Rutherford Intercollegiate. The Bison compile a 296 team score, it's best of the weekend, and moved up one spot to a 12th-place finish.Â
Bussell had a consistent day, making 15 pars and a birdie to go along with just two bogeys. Bussell was Bucknell's top finisher in the tournament. His 217 total (71-74-72) put him in a tie for 16th place.Â
Wisdom led the Bison with four birdies on the way to his 73. Jack Gardner was Bucknell's fourth counter with a 78.Â
Host Penn State came from behind to win the tournament. The Nittany Lions finished with a 7-under 277 team tally, eight better than any other team in the field, and overtook both Kent State and Loyola, who were 1-2 after 36 holes. The Golden Flashes and Greyhounds tied for second place with 859 totals for 54 holes, seven shots behind Penn State. Rutgers (862) and Maryland (863) rounded out the top five.Â
Loyola's Evan Brown ran away with the individual title with an 11-under total of 202. Brown opened with a 71 then followed with 65-66. Penn State's Patrick Sheehan, who also shot 66 on Sunday, was the runner-up at 5-under.Â
Bucknell will host Lehigh and Colgate next Saturday at the Bucknell Golf Club before traveling to Navy for the Patriot League Championship on May 1-2.Â
