About the Bison

Bucknell has enjoyed a strong spring season thus far, and late this week head coach Michael Binney added the Bison into the field at Penn State's Rutherford Intercollegiate.
In four events this spring, Bucknell has finished 2nd-1st-T2nd-3rd. That is good for a 37-4-1 head-to-head record, including a 10-0 mark against Patriot League opponents. The Bison will see Patriot League rival Loyola for the first time this weekend. Like Bucknell, the Greyhounds are expected to be a Patriot League title contender in a few weeks. The Bison will be paired with Dayton and UConn in round one.
The Bison finished third out of 15 teams at the Wildcat Invitational, hosted by Villanova, earlier this week. Bucknell trailed only St. John's and Temple, with the top three teams separated by only four shots. Blake Wisdom's first-round 68 was Bucknell's low round of the tournament, and Wisdom (68-75) and Chris Tanabe (71-72) finished in a tie for sixth place with 143 totals for 36 holes.
Bucknell's win this spring came at the Battle at Rum Pointe on March 27-28. The Bison were also runners-up at the Carpetbagger Classic and the Rolling Green Intercollegiate.
Jackson Bussell has an individual win for Bucknell this spring. Bussell won in a playoff at the Battle at Rum Pointe. One week earlier, Jack Gardner was tied after 36 holes but lost in a playoff at the Carpetbagger.
Bucknell has four players averaging between 72.9 and 74.0 strokes per round. Gardner leads the way with that 72.9 mark, followed by Bussell (73.7), Wisdom (73.9) and Tanabe (74.0). Jason Lohwater is next at 76.0. Those five will comprise Bucknell's lineup this weekend at Penn State.
This will be Bucknell's first appearance at the Rutherford Intercollegiate since April of 2011. The Bison finished 11th out of 16 teams that year with a 54-hole total of 933. Dan Bernard was the low Bison, finishing T-31st with a 229 total (77-74-78).

Next Up

The Bison will face Lehigh and Colgate in a three-team home event on Apr. 24, and that will serve as the final tuneup before the Patriot League Championship, which will be hosted by Navy on May 1-2.
