LEWISBURG, Pa. – Senior Casey Morrow coasted to a six-stroke victory, and Bucknell's "Orange" and "Blue" teams ran away with the top two spots at the Bucknell Invitational, which wrapped up in the rain on Sunday afternoon.
All 10 Bucknell players on the roster were in action this weekend. The Bison "Orange" squad was designated as the "B" team, but its 615 total (308-307) outpaced the "Blue" team's 620 (308-312). Saint Francis (Pa.) was the official runner-up with a distant 665 total, followed by La Salle (686) and Niagara (690).
On the individual leaderboard, Bucknell players took the top seven places and nine of the top 10. Saint Francis's Allison Appleton, who finished T-7th with a 159 total, was the only visiting player to infiltrate the top 10.
Morrow tied the school record with a 69 on Saturday, and she followed it up with a 4-over-par 74 on Sunday, which was once again the best score in the field. After making five birdies in the opening round, Morrow did not have one on Sunday, but she made 14 pars and just four bogeys in a round that started and finished in a steady rain.
Backing up Morrow on the "Blue" squad on Sunday were Cristina Canales with a 77, Kelsey Yi with an 80, Morgan Hennessy with an 81, and Morgan Sohosky with an 88. Yi posted an even-par 34 on the back nine after going out in 46.
All five players on the "Orange" team posted second-round scores in the 70s, led by a 75 from Tatum McKelvey, who finished as the runner-up to Morrow with a 36-hole total of 149. McKelvey birdied the 17th hole for the second straight day and shot 35 on the back nine. Erin Holmes and Sun Woo Jeon both shot 77, Kayla Yi carded a 78, and Sahana Paravantavida finished with a 79.
Playing in her final home tournament, Morrow became the sixth Bison to win medalist honors at the Bucknell Invitational. Lindsay Dodovich was the most recent in 2016, and she was preceded by Katie Jurenovich (2010), Teri Schlang (2006), Jess Hetrich (2002) and Hilary Mainka (1999).
This was Bucknell's fifth team victory at its annual home event, with the others coming in 2006, 2010, 2011 and 2016.
The Bison will be back in action at the Patriot League Championship in two weeks at Saucon Valley Country Club.
