Women's Golf Sits in Second After First Round of NKU Spring Fling

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell women's golf team sits in second place at the NKU Spring Fling hosted by Northern Kentucky at the Sandridge Country Club in Vero Beach, Florida.
Bucknell used a strong finish where three players shot even on the back nine to fire a 310. The Bison sit just one stroke behind St. John's, and six strokes ahead of Southern Indiana in third.
Sophia Bardunias shot a three-over 75 and sits in third among the individual field. The sophomore got into some trouble with a double and a triple bogey, but bounced back with birdies on holes six and seven for a three-over finish on the front. She then shot even on the back, birdieing the 16th hole.
Joelle Johnson fired a 77 and sits in ninth place at five-over par. She birdied the second and 16th holes, also shooting even on the back nine holes.
Paige Richter and Katherine Vice both finished seven-over and are tied for 14th place. Richter made birdie on the first hole, and Vice birdied the 11th and 18th to shoot even on the back nine.
Lila Smith, playing as an individual, fired a four-over 76 and sits in fifth among the individual field. Smith parred 14 holes, shooting two-over on both the front and back.
Nicole Yun made three birdies on the day and finished with an 81. The junior sits in 25th after the first round.
Bucknell continues the NKU Spring Fling with round two on Saturday. Tee times begin at 11 a.m. with the first Bison teeing off at 11:45 a.m.
