Johnson Earns Patriot League Golfer of the Week

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Sophomore women's golfer Joelle Johnson was named the Patriot League Golfer of the Week after winning the Bucknell Invitational at 2-under-par this past weekend.
After two rounds at even-par to start the tournament, Johnson improved in the third round to finish with a 68 (-2) and finish 2-under-par for the tournament to lead the Bison to a team championship. Columbia was one stroke behind the Bison as Johnson teed off on the par-4 18th hole. The sophomore parred the hole to hold off a late Columbia push toward the top of the leader board.
Johnson sank three birdies to go 3-under-par after 11 holes, but a double bogey on the 12th put her back to 1-under-par. She answered with a birdie on the par-3 13th hole, and parred out the remaining five holes to secure her championship. Johnson was a medalist at the Bucknell Invitational in 2025 but fell to teammate Katherine Vice after two playoff holes. This was Johnson's third career top-two finish.
Last Monday and Tuesday, Johnson also finished 2-over-par at the Nittany Lion Invitational. She fired a round of 70 (-2) in the second round.
Bucknell set an 18-hole record of 280 in Saturday's round followed by a 54-hole record of 860 when it was all said and done.
Dating back to the beginning of the 2025-26 season, this is now the 12th Patriot League Golfer of the Week honor for the Bison in 12 possible weeks of competition. Bucknell won 10 of 18 awards last season while playing in 10 competitions, and they have won the first two possible award in 2026-27. The only caveat is that Paige Richter and Joelle Johnson were named Co-Golfers of the Week after the Red Flash Invitational, and Navy took home the honor after the PAtriot League Championships.Â
