Bucknell Men's Lacrosse Cruises Past Lafayette, 14-6

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell men's lacrosse team cruised past Lafayette, 14-6, on Saturday night at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium.
Tommy Sopko netted five goals and Ben Clark made 12 saves to lead the Bison (2-4, 1-4 PL) past the Leopards (0-7, 0-4 PL). Bucknell carried a 7-3 lead into halftime and extended its advantage to 13-3 behind a 6-0 third quarter.
The Bison held Lafayette without a goal for an impressive 22:05, a stretch that spanned from the second quarter's 2:03 mark to the four quarter's 9:58 mark and saw Bucknell find the back of the net seven times. The Leopards scored three of the game's final four goals with the Bison resting the majority of their starters, bringing the final score to 14-6.
Beyond Sopko, Sumner Brumbaugh (2g-2a) and Alston Tarry (1g-3a) logged four-point efforts. In his first career start, Jack Feda posted two goals and one assist, including a diving, backhanded strike that came with Lafayette trailing only 4-2 in the second quarter.
Defensively, Bryant Boswell filled the stat sheet with four caused turnovers and three ground balls. Feda and Drew Wellington caused two turnovers apiece while Nick Crovatto went 9-for-15 in the faceoff x and led all players with five ground balls.
For Lafayette, Charlie Cunniffe (2g-1a) and Cole Dutton (2g-1a) led the attack while Ryan Ness made 15 saves. James Turco went 8-for-19 on faceoffs.
Bucknell held advantages in shots (53-41), shots on goal (30-21), ground balls (43-23) and faceoffs (13-11). The Bison went 2-for-2 on the man advantage and held the Leopards 2-for-8 on their opportunities.
Bucknell next hosts Robert Morris on Friday, April 16 at 7:30 p.m. Before the game, the Bison will honor their 10 members of the class of 2021.
