Bison Rowers Set to Host West Virginia Saturday
3/26/2021 12:52:00 PM | Women's Rowing
LEWISBURG, Pa. -- After having two home events postponed due to high water levels on the Susquehanna River, the Bucknell rowing team is finally set to make its 2021 debut on Saturday against West Virginia. The meet will be staged in two flights, with the Varsity Fours going off at 2 p.m. and the Varsity Eights at 3:30 p.m. The meet will also include a Pairs race.
Saturday's competition will also mark the return of Bucknell alum and former head rowing coach Jimmy King, who has been the head coach at West Virginia since 2007. A 1990 Bucknell graduate, King spent two years as an assistant coach with the Bison men's and women's rowing programs and then took over as head coach from 1992-96. Current Bucknell head coach Stephen Kish '92 spent one season as an assistant coach under King, and in 1996 Kish returned to his alma mater to succeed King as head coach.
Bucknell's 2021 spring schedule is loaded up with home dual competitions. Five more are on the schedule following this weekend's clash with West Virginia, including Patriot League rivals Lehigh and Colgate coming up in the first two Saturdays in April.
