Bison Varsity Eight Earns Second Patriot League Boat of the Week Citation

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell's Varsity Eight is in the midst of an outstanding spring season, and the crew earned Patriot League Boat of the Week honors on Tuesday for the second time in the last three weeks. The Bison 1V8+ won both of its races against Delaware and Rhode Island at a double-dual at Cornell on Saturday.
The Bison ran the 2,000-meter course in 6:32.6 in its morning race, edging Delaware by three seconds. The Bison went about a second faster (6:31.3) in the afternoon, also beating Rhode Island by a three-second margin.
Two weeks ago, the Bison swept Drexel and George Washington in Philadelphia, and last week the 1V8+ won bronze medals in a 40-boat field at the Knecht Cup on the Cooper River in New Jersey.
In Saturday's races on the Cayuga Inlet in Ithaca, Bucknell's 1V8+ was coxed by Hattie Hopper and stroked by Evelyn Sherman, with Logan Moore, Callie VonderHaar, Caroline Cawley, Kalena Gatesman, Frances Butterfield, Sadye Levensten, and Bella Guzman rounding out the crew.
Next up for Bucknell are the Women's Sprints on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass., on May 3.
