WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Bucknell women's swimming & diving team topped Army West Point, 158-139, on Saturday at Crandall Pool.
The Bison moved to 1-0 (1-0 PL) on the season with their victory over the Black Knights. First year Kate Gottwald swept the diving events while Sabrina Vumbacco and Maggie Wyngowski each won two swimming events.
Vumbacco touched the wall first in the 200 and 500 freestyle races. Wyngowski outraced the field in the 200 backstroke; she also won the 1,000 freestyle for the second time in her career.
Alexis Faria (100 butterfly), Kayla Lichtner (100 freestyle) and Caroline Mahoney (100 backstroke) were Bucknell's other individual victors. Faria's time of 56.34 in the 100 butterfly would have slotted her 10th in school history if she didn't already own the third-fastest time (55.02).
Mahoney, Faria and Lichtner also teamed with Catherine Craig for a runner-up showing in the 200 medley relay, timing in at 1:47.19.
The Bison went 1-2-3 in the 200 backstroke, with Megan Phelan and Meghan Taner finishing right behind Wyngowski.
