About the Bison
- Bucknell will be competing for the first time since the IC4A Championships on March 8, 2020. The Virginia Opener will be Bucknell's first outdoor competition since several Bison competed in the NCAA East preliminaries on May 23, 2019.
- Bucknell's lone returnee from that meet on the men's side is senior pole vaulter Nicholas Marino, who finished 36th at the meet. Marino enjoyed a solid junior season last year, finishing as an All-East selection Indoors, and was runner-up at the Patriot League Indoor Championships. Marino also holds Bucknell's second best outdoor mark (16-7.75)
- Bucknell will take on Delaware and the host Virginia on Saturday.
- Bucknell finished third at the 2019 Patriot League Indoor Championships, and returns several scorers from that meet.
- Jack Memoli returns after placing fourth in the 60H. Memoli was just off his personal best in that meet (8.40), and ranks seventh on Bucknell's all-time list in the event. Memoli earned the Most Improved Award by the Bucknell Track & Field program.
- Ethan Dunne also had a solid showing at the Patriot League Championships, earning a new personal record in the heptathlon (4716) in placing sixth overall.
- Owen Chase returns after competing for the Bison in the mile last season in placing sixth, while Robert Dessoye also returns as a scorer in the 800 last season.
- Bucknell also finished third at the 2019 Outdoor Championships. The Bison return Academic All-League pick Connor McMenamin from the cross country season, who has earned back-to-back runner-up finishes in the steeplechase.
- The Bison will host their first meet of the 2021 season when they host UMBC and Saint Francis (Pa.) for a tri-meet on Sunday, March 28.
