Bucknell Track & Field Hosts Annual Bison Outdoor Classic Extravaganza This Weekend

LEWISBURG, Pa.- The Bucknell Bison track & field teams hosts one of the largest and prestigious competitions in the East this weekend with the annual Bison Outdoor Classic. Over 100+ collegiate programs and clubs will make the trip to Lewisburg to participate in the three-day extravaganza, streamed on FloTrack. The action starts on Saturday, continues through Sunday, and finishes with the multi-events on Monday. The event will also serve as Bucknell's Spiked Shoe Senior Day with the ceremony taking place at 6 p.m. on Saturday.

"The Bison Outdoor Classic has turned into one of the largest and most competitive meets on the East Coast. We have a great facility and lots of people will get their NCAA qualifying marks from this meet. Our athletes really enjoy being at home and traditionally our athletes have performed very well at this meet. It is nice being at home and the town of Lewisburg will have a lot of electricity and excitement in the air on Saturday and Sunday. Many of our alums will be back for alumni functions and we also host a "Junior Day" for high school prospects. We will also be honoring our 33 graduating seniors with a Senior Day Ceremony on Saturday evening. It will be a very busy but fun weekend and the weather forecast is looking positive."
Carnival Atmosphere
The campus will buzz with the amount of activity and fans. So be sure to arrive early to nab a premium parking spot, as Bucknell Baseball will also be competing at home. The event impacts the Lewisburg area with the number of student-athletes, their families, and fans providing a substantial stimulus to the local economy.

Bucknell heads to the ECAC/IC4A Championships next weekend hosted by Rutgers. The competition, traditionally a postseason standard, was rescheduled to a regular season meet.

- Head coach Kevin Donner conceived the Bison Outdoor Classic as a pillar of the Eastern schedule and a chance to put Bucknell in the limelight.
- Bucknell's full squads will be competing in the three-day event, as the project of determining league rosters is underway.
- US National Champion Evelyn Bliss headlines a deep javelin field. Bucknell's superstar sits first in the NCAA in the event, throwing 59.95m (196-8) at last weekend's Colonial Relays.
- The mark landed Bliss her first Patriot League Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week award and another Bison of the Week.
- Ethan Pratt-Perez won the 3000-meter steeplechase at the Colonial Relays and won Bucknell's first Patriot League Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week laurel since John Westwood in 2016.
- Bucknell throws dot the national rankings: The women throwers are #10 (javelin), #14 (discus), and #17 (shot put). The javelin ranking is additionally impressive since Madelyn Hudak has been out with injury. The men throwers are #8 (shot put), headlined by Wade Shomper's 20th slot nationally and #22 (discus).
- Bucknell women's triple jump slots #10 nationally. Megan Baggetta's 38-4.75 leads a deep field.
- The Bucknell women's pole vault contingent sits #25 in the national rankings - headlined by Elizabeth Bryant's 11-9.75 at the Battle of the BUs.
- Events kick off Saturday at 10:45 a.m. with the women's 1500-meter run. Sunday starts at 10:30 a.m. with the women's 4x100-meter relay. Monday begins with the decathlon's 110-meter hurdles.
- Bucknell heads into the BOC fueled by back-to-back victories in the dual win over Binghamton (The Battle of the BUs) and a third consecutive triumph in the Colonial Relays for the men and women.
- Bucknell's men collected 201 points to easily win the Colonial Relays.
- Throwers Keenan LaMontagne, Wade Shomper, and Aiden Tacker delivered wins via the discus, shot put, and hammer throw respectively.
- The Bison conquered wins in the 4x100-meter and 4x400-meter relays. The 4x400-meter team of of Amani Brown, Luke Petryna, Preston Lubeski, and Ethan Fianko ran 3:11.84 - slotting fourth in Bucknell history.
- Ethan Pratt-Perez supplied a win for Bucknell by dominating the 3000-meter steeplechase. The sophomore ran 9:03.07 over nine seconds faster than his nearest competition.
- The Bison women racked up 217.5 points to comfortably win the Colonial Relays.
- Bliss added another laurel to her decorated career with a throw of 59.95m (196-8) that shattered the facility and meet record of 56m (183-8.50) set back in 1992 by Marilyn Senz, who competed in the 1991 Pan Am Games.
- Noelani Sadler, for the second straight season, broke the program record in the 100-meter hurdles at the Colonial Relays. The sophomore speedster ran 14.12, winning second place, and edging her previously personal record time of 14.13 by 0.01 seconds. Sadler also moved into the Bucknell top ten for the 400-meter hurdles.
- The 4x400-meter relay quartet of Abigail Michaelson, Alison Cooke, Raygan Lust, and Alexandra Lea won the event and made Bucknell history with their time of 3:43.40 - second all-time.
- The 6000-meter relay quartet consisted of Bucknell's distance dream - Kerry O'Day, Shaelan McNally, Caryn Rippey, and Kailey Granger. The foursome won the event by 26 seconds with a time of 19:11.25.
- Justley Sharp repeated as shot put champion for the second straight year. The junior star, healthy after last year's injury, recorded a distance of 14-28m (46-10) on her second attempt.
