Sample Qualifies for 400m Finals at the 2026 Toyota USATF Outdoor & Para National Championships

NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. - Bucknell graduate Rayven Sample '24 qualified for the final in the 400-meter ambulatory division on Thursday at the 2026 Toyota USATF Outdoor & Para National Championships at Icahn Stadium. The two-time Paralympian will race for gold tomorrow.

The ambulatory division mixed multiple qualification groups together. Sample competed in the T45-47 group, which had two runners. The T62 group had the most participants with five, including the preliminary-round winner.
Sample participated in the first of the two heats, running 52.19. The time placed him fourth in the heat and sixth overall. The former Bison sprinter started strong, trailing only preliminary-round pace-setter Hunter Woodhall for most of the race. Two runners passed him in the final 200 meters, but his time comfortably secured a spot in the final.
Sample finished nearly six seconds ahead of the other T45-47 group member, Cameron Braggs.
The 400-meter ambulatory final begins tomorrow at 2:40 p.m. Sample will run in the final before competing in the ambulatory long jump at 3:30 p.m
