About the Bison
- After finishing as a runner-up at the Bucknell Invitational earlier this week, the Bison are right back in action this weekend at the Howard Bison Invitational at Woodmont CC.
- Bucknell played well last week, posting scores of 281-284-285 from its lead group while also getting some solid scores from the B squad.
- Jason Lohwater and Jackson Bussell led the way with 209 totals over 54 holes, good for a tie for seventh place. Lohwater shot 69-70-70 and Bussell 70-70-69. It was Lohwater's second sub-par round of the season, with the other a 3-under 69 at Colgate's tournament in his first round of the season.
- Blake Wisdom and Michael Rudnick both finished T-10th with identical 70-70-71 ledgers. Rudnick, a freshman playing with the second unit, turned in the best performances of his young career and earned a spot in this week's starting five.
- Teeing it up at Woodmont will be Bussell, Lohwater, Wisdom, Rudnick and Jack Gardner. John Bradbeer will go as an individual.
- Last week's solid scores lowered Bucknell's team scoring average to 293.0 on the fall.
- Bussell and Lohwater have identical 71.8 scoring averages, and with two fall events remaining they are within reach of a couple of team records. The low average for a fall season is Chris Tanabe's 72.1 in 2019, and the low average for any season is J.P. Raftery's 71.6 in the spring of 2017.
- Howard started varsity men's and women's golf programs in 2020, thanks in large part to a major gift from NBA star and avid golfer Stephen Curry.
- This will be the Bison's inaugural home tournament, with William & Mary, Towson, Princeton, North Carolina Central, Maryland-Eastern Shore and Virginia Union among the teams in the field.
- Bucknell wraps up the fall campaign at the Lehigh Invitational on Oct. 22-23.
- The Bison won that event in back-to-back years in 2015 and 2016.
