Women's Lacrosse Falls to UMBC, 13-9

BALTIMORE – The Bucknell women's lacrosse team fell to UMBC, 13-9, on Wednesday at UMBC Stadium.
The Retrievers (2-2, 0-0 AEC) built an 11-4 lead behind an 8-2 run that spanned from the first half's 16:57 mark to the second half's 25:42 mark. While the Bison (2-3, 0-0 PL) scored five of the game's final seven goals, including three unanswered between the second half's 14:57 and 4:17 marks, they ran out of time to complete their comeback.
Eve Calabria led the Bucknell attack, netting a hat trick. Julia Bradbury added two goals while four other Bison found the back of the net.
Caitlin Tucker finished with 12 saves while Tace Sutherland filled the stat sheet with an assist, four ground balls and two caused turnovers.
For UMBC, Olivia Docal netted three goals while Courtney Renehan won eight draw controls. Lexi Roberts made 11 saves to earn the win in net.
The Retrievers held advantages in shots (35-28), ground balls (16-13) and draw controls (17-7). They also went 4-for-8 on their free-position attempts while holding Bucknell scoreless on just two attempts.
The Bison return to action on Saturday at 2 p.m. by taking on Robert Morris in Moon Township, Pa.
