LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Â Â The Bucknell University women's track and field team wrapped up its final meet before the Patriot League Championships at the Bucknell Tune-Up on Friday evening at Gerhard Fieldhouse.Â
"We got what we needed out of this meet," said Head Coach Kevin Donner. Although we rested quite a few athletes, a lot of others got some valuable experience. A few others even put themselves in the conversation for a league roster spot. Now we just have to taper a little, and rest up so that we can be as healthy as possible. Both teams have had a lot of injuries and sickness throughout the winter, but hopefully the worst is behind us, and we can focus on next week's championship."
Kaitlin Salisbury continued her excellent run of form in the 60, taking a season-best time of 7.56 as she looks to defend her Patriot League Gold in the event next weekend. Salisbury improved from a 7.59 at the Sykes & Sabock Challenge two weeks ago, and entered the meet having posted a personal-best in the 200 (24.69) at the Doug Raymond Invitational last weekend. Salisbury also posted a first-place finish in the long jump (18-4.25).Â
Valerie Fischer (1:16.59) and Jessie Castellano (1:16.62) each earned ECAC qualification in the 500 in finishing first and second, respectively, in the 500.Â
Alexandra Butz (5-5) tied for first in a field of 17 jumpers in the high jump, tying with Jordan Otto of Lehigh. Sydney Contrino (5-3) and Lexy Forrestal both tied for third. Butz also posted a solid showing in the pole vault in taking second(11-6.5).  Â
In the shot put, Delia Sipe (46-3.25) was just shy of her personal-best in the event (46-5.25) in earning ECAC qualification as she claimed first place over Kate Matrisciano of Shippensburg. Danielle Line (49-03) was fourth in the weight throw, followed by Daija Misler in fifth (48-6.25).Â
Bucknell will now turn its attention to the Patriot League Championships hosted by Lehigh on Saturday, Feb. 29-Sunday, March 1.  Â
