Doyle Scores Twice in 3-0 Shutout of Towson

TOWSON, Md. – Sophomore Emily Doyle put together a massive two-goal performance to lift Bucknell field hockey to a 3-0 victory over the Towson Tigers on Sunday. The Bisons' stellar offense was complimented by goalkeeper Olivia Harris' third shutout of the season.
The Bison dominated on offense throughout the game by outshooting the Tigers 17-4. It was the most shots the Bison have attempted all season, with 11 directed on target. Bucknell's second shot of the game was the one that got the team on the board in the first quarter.
12 minutes in, Doyle caught a pass from Brittany Willwerth and rattled off a shot just before falling over the Towson goalkeeper. The shot landed between the posts and gave the Bison a 1-0 lead.

The Bison struck again four minutes into the second half to grow the lead to two. This time it was junior Kaelyn Long coming through on penalty corner for her first score of the season. Long also led the Bison in shots in the game with four.
Attempting to get back into the game, Towson put up three second-half shots, but Harris and the defense remained strong.
With under a minute remaining in the third, Doyle scored her second of the day and third of the weekend to put the lead out of reach. Doyle now leads the team with five goals on the year.
Harris recorded three saves in the win and captured the sixth shutout of her career. Eight different Bison posted shots in the game and five attempted two or more. The Bison also held a 12-2 advantage in penalty corners.
Up next, Bucknell travels to Villanova to take on the 3-4 Wildcats. Bucknell is 3-7 all-time against the Wildcats, but has won each of the last two meetings. The game is scheduled for noon on Sunday, Oct. 6.
