About the Bison
- Bucknell earned a valuable road point at Colgate on Saturday in a 1-1 draw.
- The Orange and Blue earned its first result against Colgate in its last five tries. The last time Bucknell earned a point against Colgate was a 1-1 draw in Hamilton during the 2014 season.
- The Bison have now trailed in four of their six games to date this season, but have managed to come back and score at least one goal in each of those games.
- Matt Thorsheim scored his tenth career goal in the tie at Colgate, lofting the ball over the onrushing goalkeeper as he converted his second goal in as many games. Thorsheim also scored a late penalty against Saint Francis (Pa.) one game prior.
- Thorsheim has already passed his point total from 2018, in which he registered two goals and one assist. The junior from Manalapan, N.J. is now up to three goals and two assists this season.
- The Bison went to overtime for the first time this season, after playing in six overtime contests in 2018.
- Freshman Zach Hurchalla provided the assist on Thorsheim's goal vs. the Raiders, and is now the fourth Bison newcomer to record a point this season along with Jameson Railey, Mo Tall, and Eddie Perez-Pelaez. Ten of Bucknell's 33 points this season have come from freshmen.
- Nick King provided a multi-point outing, along with Thorsheim, in Wednesday's win over St. Francis (Pa.)
- The senior captain from Mattawan, Mich. Earned his first game with a goal and an assist in his career at Bucknell after scoring the opening goal before assisting Trevor Wiggins' goal on a corner kick for Bucknell's second.
- Wiggins scored his first career goal, becoming the fourth Bucknell player to score their first collegiate goal this season along with Jacob Mittman, Perez-Pelaez, and Patrick O'Hara.
- Luke Smith helped Bucknell earn a clean sheet in his first career start, also posting four saves in the win at Colgate.
- The freshman is the first goalkeeper to earn a start in his rookie season since teammate Emmett Witmer made 10 starts in his freshman season in 2016.
- Bucknell will face George Mason for the first time since 2006, a 1-0 Bison win.
- That game was the only meeting between the two teams in series history.
- George Mason is 1-6 on the year, with the only win coming over fellow Patriot League school American on Friday, Aug. 30.
- Bucknell is unbeaten in two road games this year.
- American is 0-6-1 on the season, opening the Patriot League campaign with a 2-1 defeat at home to Lehigh.
- Bucknell tied American in Washington, D.C. last year. Alex Clarke scored the opening goal in that game on an assist by Mittman, before the Eagles scored a late equalizer with just over a minute remaining.
- Bucknell is 7-15-2 all-time against the Eagles. Bucknell last defeated American in 2017, with Matt Thorsheim and Bernie Wright each scoring. American once again scored with just over a minute to go. In the past four matchups, American has scored in the 88th minute or later. American scored a late tying goal in the 88th minute of a Patriot League Tournament game in 2016, and defeated Bucknell with two goals in overtime periods in the two matches that season.
- Bucknell will host Loyola (Md.) on Wednesday, Oct. 2 for a 7 p.m. contest.
