About the Bison
• Bucknell heads to Philadelphia, Pa. for the Temple Invite this weekend. The Bison will face off against Penn, Temple, and Wagner across the three-day tournament.
• Through two tournaments and a dual with Fairleigh Dickinson, the Bison have gotten plenty of work in this fall. The team claimed an A singles title at the Bucknell Invitational and had winners across the board in the matchup with the Knights. The team then got added work at the Mount Invitational last weekend.
• Sophomore Cooper Bradshaw won the top singles flight at the home tournament to begin the season, then won his singles matchup in the Dickinson dual. Bradshaw also has three doubles victories playing alongside Ryan Jurist.
• Jurist won both of his singles matchups on the opening weekend of the fall season, and collected a singles win in the opening round of the Mount Invitational.
• After earning a pair of third-place finishes at the Bucknell Invitational, freshmen Guillermo Torres and Per Astrom teamed up to win a doubles title in the consolation bracket at Mount St. Mary's, defeating the Mountaineer's tandem 6-4.
• Another freshman who saw success early was Chunyu Chen. Chen defeated Dickinson's Sam Coan 6-1, 6-4 after seeing work in doubles play on the first weekend of the season.
• Freshman Michael Owen also collected wins in both singles and doubles in the Dickinson dual.
Scouting the Opponents
• Penn will see its first fall action at the Temple Invite this weekend. The team went 18-10 in the spring, including a 2-5 record within the Ivy League. The Quakers are 2-0 all-time against the Bison, winning 6-1 in both 2008 and 2010.
• Temple also has yet to compete this fall. The Owls posted a 16-7 record in the spring and advanced all the way to the American Athletic Conference semifinals. Temple also defeated the Bison 6-1 back in March.
• Wagner's fall slate begins with the Temple Invite following a 7-10 spring season. The Seahawks advanced to the Northeast Conference title match last season before falling to Bryant University. Bucknell has never faced the Seahawks.
Up Next
• Bucknell goes to Vestal, N.Y. to participate in the Binghamton Championships. The three-day tournament will stretch from Sept. 27 through Sept. 29.
