Bison Notes
- Bucknell suffered its third loss this season on Saturday against Drexel, with all three defeats to date coming by a 2-1 score.
- Senior Nick King found the back of the net on a nice low shot that was assisted by freshman Mo Tall and senior Bernie Wright.
- Wright collected his third assist of the season as a defender, as the left back made another one of his surging runs up the field to find Tall. Wright's assist was the seventh of his career, and the three helpers are already a career-best in a single season for the senior from New York, N.Y.
- Tall picked up his second assist of the season after supplying a short pass to King at the top of the box. The native of Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso picked up his other assist in the 4-1 win at Canisius
- Bucknell has now managed to score at least once in six straight games dating back to last season, the most by the team since it managed to score in nine straight games from Oct. 8-Nov. 11, 2016.
- King's goal was the first for the native of Mattawan, Mich. since Oct. 17, 2017 at Colgate in a 2-1 defeat. King pounced on a rebound from Dan Bank to give Bucknell a 1-0 lead against the Raiders, and the goal was his fourth of the season as he went on to earn All-Patriot League Third Team honors that year.
- The Bison have scored seven times this season, good for third in the Patriot League, and already over halfway to Bucknell's total of 13 last season.
- The seven goals through the first four games are the most by a Bison team since the 2015 season, in which they also scored seven through the first four games.
- Wednesday's home match will be the last for the Bison until the squad returns to Emmitt Field on Friday, Sept. 27 against American for family weekend.
- Emmett Witmer and Quinn Bredin are the only two Bison to have played every minute of every game this season.
- Bredin has played the full 90 minutes in each of his last eight games, with the senior last subbing out of a game against Binghamton on Oct. 16, 2018.
- Trevor Wiggins, Daniel Hallowell, and Kevin Gulizio each made their season debut for Bucknell against Drexel.
- The Bison dropped a 2-0 decision last season in Loretto to the Red Flash, registering just one shot on frame through the 90 minutes.
- Bucknell has lost three out of the past four matchups, with the last win coming in 2017 in Lewisburg.
- King was active once again in that game, scoring the winner on a nice pass from Thorsheim as Bucknell defeated a talented Red Flash squad, 1-0.
- Bucknell leads the all-time series, 11-7-2.
- Colgate, the reigning three-time Patriot League Tournament champions, will give the Bison a stiff test right out of the gate in conference play.
- The Raiders, who finished 9-1-1 at home last season, have advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament each of the past two seasons.
- Colgate, which last defeated Monmouth on Sunday, will have six days of rest before hosting Bucknell.
- Bucknell is 10-29-7 all-time against Colgate, with the last win for Bucknell coming in 2012, a 1-0 win in Lewisburg. The last time Bucknell defeated Colgate on the road was 2010, a 1-0 win for the Bison in the Patriot League semifinals. Josh Plump scored the decisive goal in that game.
- Colgate is 1-2-3 to start the season, but has faced a daunting schedule that includes road games against No. 20 Portland, No. 22 Oregon State, and a rematch of their NCAA First Round matchup in 2018 against No. 22 New Hampshire.
Bucknell will face George Mason on Tuesday, Sept. 24 before returning to Lewisburg on Friday, Sept. 27 against American for family weekend at 7 p.m.
