Men's Soccer Continues Homestand Against Drexel Saturday

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell University men's soccer team will look to get back to winning ways in game two of its three-game homestand when it hosts Drexel on Saturday at 2 p.m.

About the Bison
- Bucknell is coming off a 2-1 loss to Mount St. Mary's on Friday night in a hard-fought game that featured 48 fouls and six yellow cards between the two schools.
- The Mount took a 1-0 lead with just one second to go in the first half after a scramble in the box off a corner kick.
- Matt Thorsheim then equalized in the 67th minute after Jacob Mittman drew a penalty kick, before the Mount found the winning goal 11 minutes later.
- Thorsheim, a Second-Team Patriot League pick in 2018, blasted his shot down the middle of the goal to get off the mark for the 2019 season and notch his eighth career tally. .
- The Bison have used the same starting lineup in each of their three matches so far this season.
- Three Bison, senior defender Quinn Bredin, senior goalkeeper Emmett Witmer, and freshman defender Zach Hurchalla, have played all 270 minutes this season. Bernie Wright ranks next on the list with 264 of a possible 270 minutes played.
- Bredin in particular has had an incredible run of consistency as a key cog in the Bison backline. The senior from St. George, Ontario, currently carries a streak of 53 consecutive games started, and has made an appearance in all but two games over his career at Bucknell.
- Bucknell's last game in which Bredin was not a part of the starting XI was on Sept. 17, 2016 against Fairleigh Dickinson, in which the center back still logged 80 minutes.
- Both of the Bison's defeats have come by a 2-1 score, with Saturday's opponent Drexel's three losses all coming by a 2-1 margin as well.
- Bucknell, bolstered by four goals against Canisius, leads the Patriot League in goals scored with six through the first three games.
- Goalkeeper Emmett Witmer is also tied for the league lead in saves with 16.
- Defender Bernie Wright leads the Patriot League with two assists from the left back spot.
About Drexel/Series History
- The Dragons are 0-3, and will play at NJIT on Wednesday before traveling to Lewisburg on Saturday afternoon.
- Bucknell fell 2-0 to the Dragons in Philadelphia last season, with Drexel midfielder Mathias Ebbesen scoring a goal on either side of halftime.
- Bucknell held a 9-6 advantage in shots on the day, but couldn't put one away in the 2-0 loss.
- The Orange and Blue are 8-11-2 all-time against Drexel, with the two teams first meeting in 1947.
