About the Bison

Bucknell takes on a large field this week at the 20-team Wildcat Invitational, hosted by Villanova. The 36-hole tournament runs Monday and Tuesday at White Manor CC in Malvern.
The Bison send out the same quintet that posted a strong third place finish at the Abarta Coca-Cola Collegiate Invitational last weekend. That includes sophomore Chris Tanabe, who shot 3-under in cold, windy conditions to claim his first career individual title. Tanabe is joined by senior J.P. Raftery, junior Peter Bradbeer, and freshmen Jason Lohwater and Carter Cook.
Raftery owns the team's best scoring average with a 74.4 in the spring and 73.6 over the full season. Raftery shot 74-73 last week to place T-12th.
Tanabe (74.6), who was named Patriot League Golfer of the Week on Wednesday, also has a sub-75 average in 2018-19.

Bucknell at the Wildcat Invitational

Bucknell is playing in Villanova's spring tournament for the eighth straight year. The top finish here for the Bison was eighth place in 2012. The best team score was 293 in 2017.
The Bison posted 301-297 in a 13th-place finish. J.P. Raftery opened with a 2-over 73, then had to withdraw due to illness. Connor O'Brien, Bradbeer and Tanabe all finished with 150 over 36 holes to lead the team.
Drexel is the defending champion. The Dragons took the 2018 Wildcat Invitational with a 573 total (282-291). David Powers of St. Peter's was medalist with a 4-under 138 (68-70).
