No. 18 Women's Water Polo Tops Saint Francis, Falls to No. 6 Michigan

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The No. 18 Bucknell women's water polo team topped Saint Francis, 12-5, on Saturday morning at Kinney Natatorium.
The Bison (23-10, 4-1 CWPA) then fell to No. 6 Michigan, 16-6, in their evening tilt. The Wolverines (20-8, 5-0 CWPA) handed Bucknell its first CWPA loss of the season behind an 8-1 second half.
The Bison are 8-2 in their past 10 games with their victory over the Red Flash (9-22, 0-4 CWPA) and loss to Michigan. They are now 11-3 in their past 14 games in their home pool.
Against the Red Flash, Kali Hyham and Emily Konishi led the attack, each netting a hat trick, while Paige Furano registered three helpers. At halftime, the Bison held a 5-1 lead. They effectively put the game out of the reach in the third quarter, outscoring Saint Francis by a 6-1 margin to push their lead up to 11-2. They moved to 7-0 all-time against the Red Flash.
Hyham drew two ejections against Saint Francis, improving her season total to 59; she now needs just two more to crack Bucknell's single-season top 15.
Against the Wolverines, P. Furano posted three points on two goals and an assist while Hyham added two goals. Konishi went 2-for-3 on her sprints on the day; she is 35-for-44 on the season, a percentage of 79.5 good for second in school history.
Before the Michigan game, the Bison recognized seniors Konishi, Sarah Mooney, Eliza Romeyn, Chelsea Scuderi and Regina Younger for their contributions to the program. They close the regular season tomorrow by hosting Princeton at 12 p.m.
