Women's Track and Field Has Strong Day at Raleigh Relays, Jim Taylor Invite

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Bucknell University women's track and field team posted a strong day at two different meets, the Raleigh Relays and the Jim Taylor Invite.
In Raleigh, Maura Fiamoncini continued her impressive start to her sophomore campaign, winning the javelin with a season-best of 166-5, besting the next closest competitor by over 13 feet. Kasey Getkin was 10th in the event after throwing 133-8, just short of the ECAC standard. Hanna Beer was 16th in the event.
Molly Montalvo posted a throw in the hammer of 171-7, good for ECAC qualification.
At the Jim Taylor Invite, the Bison placed four of the top five in the 800, with Tia Tardy crossing the line in first with a time of 2:14.13. Gianna Mincone (3rd, 2:18.97), Tara Lyons (fourth, 2:19.35), and Madeleine Hunt (fifth, 2:19.60) followed behind.
Ashley Blair won the 1500 meters by nearly five seconds with a time of 4:39.24, Tardy was third in the event with a time of 4:45.25.
Delia Sipe and Abby Whitaker went 1-2 in the shot put, with Sipe registering a toss of 44-7 ½, an ECAC standard. Whitaker was close behind with a throw of 42-3/4.
Jenna Farmer took first in the 10,000 meter run with a time of 37:36.92, an ECAC standard.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Tara Lyons, Tardy, Hunt, and Harper Stewart took first with a time of 3:59.36.
Brianna Tutuska finished in first place in the discus after a throw of 141-8 to narrowly beat out Sipe in second place at 141-6. Both throws were ECAC standards.
Katie Phillips took fourth in the 100 hurdles with a time of 16.09. Jamie Falla was third in the 3000 steeplechase with a time of 11:45.85.
Alexandra Butz finished in second place in the high jump after clearing 5-3.
Caroline McGann was fourth in the pole vault, followed by teammate Lia Zavattaro in fifth place after both cleared 10-0.
Alexis Auman took a fourth place finish in the long jump after leaping 17-7. She also finished third in the triple jump after a leap of 36-9 ¾.
Michaela Bracken finished in first in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:05.22.
The Bison will now look ahead to the Colonial Relays that run from Thursday – Saturday in Williamsburg, Va.
