Women's Track and Field Sits Fourth After Day Two of Colonial Relays

WILLIAMSBURG, Va.--The Bucknell University women's track and field team sits in fourth place after the first two days thanks to several strong performances. UMass Lowell leads the field currently at 38.75 points, with William & Mary (37), George Mason (32.50), Bucknell (32), and James Madison (30) making up the rest of the top five.Â
With injuries and a few key people not here, our depth is not quite where we want it," said Head Coach Kevin Donner. "A couple big wins by Maura and Molly in the javelin and hammer plus a few other scorers really puts us in a good position for a high team place." Â

Molly Montalvo and Maura Fiamoncini posted event wins for Bucknell on the day.

Montalvo won the hammer throw with a toss of 173-0, just six feet shorter than her personal-best of 179-0 that also ranks fourth in Bucknell history. Montalvo's throw was also an ECAC standard.

Fiamoncini won her third javelin throw in as many meets, this time tossing the javelin 159-03 to best a field of 11. Bucknell was strong in this event, with Kasey Getkin (fourth, 130-11) and Hanna Beer (eighth, 124-08) also providing points.

Payton Capes scored for the Bison in the 1500, running a time of 4:33.86 to finish in eighth place, an ECAC standard.

Alexandra Butz finished in a tie for fifth in the high jump Championship section after clearing 5-1.25 to score for Bucknell. Sydney Contrino placed third in the University section after clearing 5-1.25 as well.

In the long jump, Alexis Auman leaped 16-10.75 to finish in seventh place.

Becca Rooney posted a top-ten finish in the 400, running a time of 58.02.

Tia Tardy finished in first in the 800-meter run in the University division after running a 2:12.14.

Ashley Blair was sixth in the University section of the 1500, running a time of 4:39.31.Madeleine Hunt was 10th in the event at 4:39.77.

Jamie Falla picked up a seventh place finish in the University section of the 5000 meter run with a time of 18:30.31.

Katie Wisotsky was fifth in the University hammer throw with a throw of 139-03.
