WILLIAMSBURG, Va.- The Bucknell women's track & field team held off pesky host William & Mary at the 60th Colonial Relays on Saturday to win the two-day meet and earn its third straight victory in the competition. The Tribe drew within 15 points but Bucknell used a late surge to finish with 217.5 points to W&M's 171.5. Noelani Sadler's school record in the 100-meter hurdles headlined the Bison effort.

"I was very pleased with how our student-athletes competed today and over the weekend," said head coach Kevin Donner. "I love the concept of this meet. It prepares a lot of people for two days of competition and we really passed many of the tests to show we are a good day two team. Both of our squads scored over 200 points. I believe we are much better program during the outdoor season than the indoor season and it definitely showed today. We have a great schedule over the next few weeks starting with next weekend's Bison Outdoor Classic, which will be as good as ever."
Sadler, for the second straight season, broke the program record at the Colonial Relays. The sophomore speedster ran 14.12, winning second place, and edging her previously personal record time of 14.13 by 0.01 seconds. The accomplishment came one day after Sadler moved into the Bucknell top ten for the 400-meter hurdles.Â
"I would credit the heat, sweating, and Coach A's training for really helping me compete competitively today and ultimately getting me my PR," said Sadler.Â
The heat's irrelevance to Sadler should not come as a surprise. The sprinter hails from Miami - searing sunshine maneuvers through her veins - and her training in Lewisburg's unpredictable climate has prepared the runner for any weather.Â
"Sadler has continued to grow and develop as a runner," said sprints coach Richard Alexander - affectionately known as Coach A in the program. "She has put in great work and it is paying off."
Coach A's sprints filled the Bison war chest with points. The 4x400-meter relay quartet of Abigail Michaelson, Alison Cooke, Raygan Lust, and Alexandra Lea made Bucknell history with their time of 3:43.40. The mixture of breakout junior (Michaelson), senior standby (Cooke), freshman energy (Lust), and school record prowess (Lea) won the event and moved into second place all-time at Bucknell. The Bison sprints have developed many impressive 4x400-meter combinations and this latest edition cemented its place in the pantheon. The 4x100-meter relay quartet of Amanda Agambire, Cami Burkett, Piper Portacio, and Lea combined for a second place time of 47.31. The sprints medley relay of Madeline Sipe, Burkett, Portacio, and Agambire finished sixth, logging 4:15.55.
The distance relays squads matched their sprinting teammates placements. The 6000-meter relay quartet consisted of Bucknell's distance dream - Kerry O'Day, Shaelan McNally, Caryn Rippey, and Kailey Granger. The foursome won the event by 26 seconds with a time of 19:11.25. The group of Grace Vives, Sadler, Katie Moncavage, and Katrina Torelli notched second place in the 4000-meter distance medley, registering 11:59.38.
Justley Sharp repeated as shot put champion for the second straight year. The junior star, healthy after last year's injury, recorded a distance of 14-28m (46-10) on her second attempt. Madison Fowler finished second, throwing 13.83m (45-4.25).Â
Julia Sobilo's scholastic status says rookie but the newcomer throws like a veteran. The freshman won her second straight discus throw, flinging 45.95m (150-9) on her fifth attempt to swipe the lead from a William & Mary thrower. She is the latest testimony to throws coach Ryan Protzman's development of elite talent.Â
The jumps supplied additional points. Megan Baggetta finished third in the triple jump. Her best mark of 39-2.75 arrived during her third attempt. Madeline Lehker cleared 5-1 in the high jump to slot sixth.Â
