Women's Track & Field Completes Two Competitions

RALEIGH, N.C. & TUCSON, ARIZ.- Bucknell women's track & field finished up the Raleigh Relays and the reigning United States national javelin champion Evelyn Bliss threw at the USATF Winter Long Throws National Championships on Saturday.Â

Bliss made her junior season debut at the USATF Winter Long Throws National Championships amidst a small but elite field of competition, including fellow Keystone State thrower Madison Wiltrout. Despite battling a troublesome stomach bug, Bliss carved out a third place finish on a throw of 54.79m (179-5). The mark arrived in her first attempt. Her second chance fouled. The third attempt flew 46.33m (152-0).Â
Bliss rallied in the fourth throw for a mark of 53.05m (174-0). The fifth try fouled but she finished the day on a final distance of 47.69m (156-5).Â
Madison Fowler's participation in the hammer throw rounded out the Bucknell contingent at the Raleigh Relays. The Orange & Blue sophomore finished 15th on a throw of 53.48m (175-5). Like Bliss, her best mark arrived in the first attempt. Her second try flew 51.28m (168-3). Fowler fouled on her final chance and did not qualify for the finals.Â
Bucknell faces Binghamton tomorrow in a dual titled the Battle of the BUs.
