Baseball Readies for Big Weekend Series at Home Against Army

LEWISBURG, Pa. –The Bucknell University baseball team gets back into conference play this weekend for an important three-game set against Army at Depew Field, with the Black Knights currently third in the Patriot League standings.
Army is currently 2-2 in the Patriot League along with Holy Cross. Bucknell currently sits at 2-6 in the league in fifth.
Setting the Scene
What: Bucknell (7-18, 2-6 PL) vs. Army West Point (13-11, 2-2 PL)
When: Saturday, March 30 (DH), 12 p.m. Sunday, March 31, 1 p.m.

- The Bison will play a series against Army for the second time in the span of a week after a 1-1 day on Saturday in West Point.
- The Bison were defeated in the opening game 11-1 before rebounding in the second matchup for a 2-0 win.
- In the Bucknell victory, Nate Grisius pitched very well for his second win of the year, striking out four batters in seven innings for Bucknell's first shutout victory since a 3-0 win over Lehigh on April 21, 2018.
- The Bison have now won three out of four overall thanks to a 10-5 win over Villanova on Tuesday afternoon in Plymouth Meeting, Pa.
- The win was Bucknell's first nonconference road win since a 7-5 win over North Carolina A&T on March 3, 2018.
- The Wildcats out-hit Bucknell 16-10 in the game, but Bucknell managed to hang on for its first win after being out-hit by an opponent in 11 games this season.
- Nicholas Sadd earned his first career win over Villanova, tossing six innings while allowing just six hits through the first five innings. In the fifth, Sadd gave up just his second earned run of the year in 19.1 innings played at that point on a sac fly.
- Sadd was replaced to begin the seventh by Matt Shobe, who tossed two scoreless innings with two strikeouts while allowing just a single hit in his seventh appearance of the season.
- PJ Strahm is tied for fourth in the Patriot League in steals with seven, and has only been caught once so far this season. Bucknell is 35-42 on stolen bases overall.
- Caleb Broughton is currently fifth in the Patriot League in batting average, hitting .333 so far this season.
- Bucknell has outscored its opponents 27-14 in the eighth inning this season.
- JohnPaul Bell currently has an 11-game hitting streak, while Luke Hartman has now hit safely in four consecutive games.
- Dominic Toso has posted eight multi-hit games this season, including two games with three hits.
