Softball Falls to Tulsa and #10 LSU on Second Day of Tiger Classic

BATON ROUGE, La. – Bucknell softball dropped a pair of games to returning NCAA Tournament teams Saturday, falling 1-0 to Tulsa and 10-0 in five innings to LSU at the Tiger Classic in Baton Rouge.
The Bison dipped to 1-3 at the season-opening event, with the lone win coming over Tulsa on Friday. They will wrap up play at the tournament with a game against 10th-ranked LSU on Sunday at noon. The game will air on ESPN+ for those that have a subscription.
Game 1 – Tulsa 1, Bucknell 0
Raeanne Geffert pitched a great game, but the Bucknell hitters couldn't get to Tulsa pitcher Samantha Pochop in a 1-0 loss to the Golden Hurricane.
Geffert went the distance, allowing just one run on four hits. She didn't walk a batter and struck out five. Tulsa scored the lone run on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first inning.
Lauren Hadley led Bucknell with a pair of singles. Allyse Volpe, Ava Fairbanks, Taylor Wolfgang, and Jess Hom had one single apiece.
Game 2 – LSU 10, Bucknell 0 (5)
Bucknell stayed close through four innings, but nationally-ranked LSU erupted for nine runs in the bottom of the fourth.
Lauren Lichtenwalner started and went 3.2 innings for the Bison, allowing just one run through the first three. She held LSU scoreless through the first two innings.
The Tigers averaged 8.0 runs through the first two innings in their first four wins.
Ali Kilponen gave up two hits over five innings of work to pick up the win for LSU. She struck out six.
Wolfgang ripped an opposite-field double for Bucknell, and Hom added a single.
