No. 24 Women's Water Polo Prepares for Bucknell Invitational

LEWISBURG, Pa.--Â The No. 24 ranked Bucknell University women's water polo team will host the Bucknell Invitational this weekend and will play in four games on Saturday, Feb. 9- Sunday, Feb. 10.Â
The Bison will return to their home pool for the first time since April 29, 2018. The Bison were 7-1 at Kinney Natatorium a season ago.Â

Last Time Out/Bison Notes    Â
- The Bison surged to a 3-1 start on the season after defeating Siena, La Salle, and No. 20 Marist.Â
- The Bison's lone loss came to No. 16 Wagner in a narrow 10-8 decision.    Â
- Against La Salle, Head Coach John McBride became just the third coach in Bucknell history to win 100 games for two different programs for the Orange and Blue, joining Dick Russell (men's water polo, men's swimming) and John Zeigler (men's and women's water polo) to reach the 100-win mark for two different Bucknell programs.Â
- Bucknell started the Bruno Classic 3-0 by using fast starts to aid in the process.
- The Bison outscored their opponents by a total of 10-2 in the first quarter, and never trailed through the first day of action.Â
- Senior Emily Konishi was solid on the defensive end, posting 13 steals through the first three games of the season.Â
- Ally Furano picked up where she left off last season, where she scored nine goals through the final three games of her freshman season in 2018.Â
- Furano won both Bison Athlete of the Week honors and CWPA Offensive Player of the Week honors after scoring 13 goals and adding four assists at the Bruno Classic.Â
- Furano has now scored 60 goals throughout her first 33 games as a Bison.Â
- Joining Furano with a weekly award from the CWPA was Georgia Lewis, who garnered CWPA Defensive Player of the Week honors after notching 25 saves through her first four games.Â
- Lewis, a freshman, posted nine saves in a win over No. 20 Marist, and also posted a career-best 13 saves in a close loss to No. 16 Wagner.     Â
- The Bison are 15-3 in the Bucknell Invite since the 2015 season.  Â
- The Bison had at least five different scorers in three out of the four games at the Bruno Classic.Â
- Sophomore Kali Hyham will face off against her father, Tom Hyham, who is the Head Coach at La Salle. Â

- The Tigers will be making their season debut on Saturday.
- Bucknell holds a 9-6 advantage over Salem in the all-time series.
- The two teams last met in 2005. The Bison won all three matchups by a combined score of 40-8.Â

- The Bison will play Siena for the second consecutive week after defeating the Saints 11-3 in the opening game of the season.Â
- Bucknell is 11-0 all-time vs. the Saints, who are 0-4 to start the year.Â
No. 18 Wagner at a Glance
- The Seahawks fell two spots in the latest poll this week despite winning three out of four at the Bruno Classic.Â
- Wagner defeated Bucknell in a close contest in the final game of the Bruno Classic.Â
- Bucknell is now 12-9 all-time against the Seahawks.Â
- The Explorers will be looking for their first win of the season against Bucknell.
- Bucknell defeated La Salle, 16-6, at the Bruno Classic in the two teams first ever meeting.Â
