Women's Water Polo Drops Final Game at Bruno Classic to No. 16 Wagner

PROVIDENCE, R.I.—The Bucknell University women's water polo team wrapped up the 2019 Bruno Classic by dropping a narrow 10-8 loss to No. 16 Wagner. Bucknell drops to 3-1 with the loss.
The Bison and the Seahawks exchanged goals early on, with Ally Furano scoring on a penalty shot drawn by Sarah Mooney before Kali Hyham scored a goal on an assist from A. Furano to take a 2-1 lead. However the Seahawks would score the next two goals to take a 3-2 lead after the first period.
The Bison started the second period strong, with A. Furano once again involved as she assisted Emily Konishi's first goal of the game. Another penalty shot, this time won by Hyham, helped Bucknell take a 4-3 lead. The two teams would remain close heading into the half, with Bucknell clinging onto a 5-4 lead.
The Seahawks made a push in the third quarter entering the fourth, scoring four straight goals to take an 8-5 lead in the beginning of the period. A. Furano scored once again to trim the deficit to 8-6, but the Seahawks responded with two goal of their own shortly afterwards to gain a four-goal lead. Two late goals from Konishi and A. Furano weren't enough as Wagner hung on for a 10-8 victory and gave the Bison their first loss in the 2019 campaign.
A. Furano led the Bison with six points on four goals and two assists, while Konishi posted a two-goal day. Larissa Hodzic and Kali Hyham posted the other goals for the Bison. Goalkeeper Georgia Lewis stopped 13 shots in the loss.
Bucknell will return to action at home at the Bucknell Invitational on Feb. 9.-10.
