No. 22 Women's Water Polo Travels to Mercyhurst Invite This Weekend

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The No. 22 ranked Bucknell University women's water polo team is set for four more games in the state of Pennsylvania when it heads to the Mercyhurst Invite from Feb. 16-17.

About the Bison/Last Time Out
- The Bison went 3-1 in their second tournament of the season, defeating Salem, Siena, and La Salle and falling to No. 18 Wagner.
- The Bison are 1-2 against ranked opponents this season, dropping two games to Wagner, their only two losses, and defeating No. 20 Marist, 11-7 on Feb. 2.
- The Bison will take on three teams from the Western Water Polo Association and VMI, which is a part of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
- Bucknell is 45-18 against the WWPA to date, including a combined 31-1 against McKendree, Gannon, and Mercyhurst to date.
- Bucknell owns an unbeaten record against five of the current nine members of the conference (Cal State East Bay, Gannon, McKendree, Sonoma State, and Fresno Pacific)
- Bucknell has never defeated two members of the conference: UC San Diego and Cal State Monterey Bay.
- The Bison are currently 5-2 against MAAC competition this season, defeating No. 20 Marist, La Salle (x2), and Siena (x2) before dropping two games to nationally ranked Wagner, who went 14-0 last season in conference play.
- Ally Furano has already tallied 25 goals and 13 assists this season, which is on pace to easily surpass her 2018 total of 47 goals, and has already tied her assist output from last season.
- Emily Konishi is also having a strong senior season in the pool, posting 18 goals and seven assists while adding 21 steals, ten more than any other Bison this season.
- Gigi Rojahn has excelled in creating opportunities for her teammates by notching 11 assists, second on the team behind A. Furano and just three behind the 14 assists she accumulated in all of 2018.
- Kali Hyham has added 13 goals as well as drawing 18 ejections this season, which is already half of the 36 that she picked up in 2018.
- The Bison were also 6-2 through eight games at this point last season.

- Bucknell owns a 16-1 record all-time against the Lakers
- The two teams last officially met in 2016, a 12-3 win for the Bison at the Bison Invitational on Feb. 11.
- Mercyhurst will be making its season debut against the Bison.
- Chelsea Scuderi handed out a team-high three assists in the win, while Nina Benson added two goals.
- McKendree and the Bison met for the first time last season, a 15-4 Bison win on Feb. 3 at the Bruno Classic.
- Then-freshmen Hyham, Molly Teresi, and Hayley Pogue all posted solid days for the Bison.
- Hyham and Teresi each picked up three goals and an assist, while Pogue had five saves, three assists, and two steals after getting the start in the cage.
VMI at a Glance
- The Bison are 3-0 all-time against the Keydets, with the two teams last meeting on Feb. 19, 2017, a 15-8 Bison win.
- Emily Konishi scored four goals and had four assists for the Bison in that game.
- In Bucknell and VMI's inaugural meeting on Feb. 15, 2015, now Assistant Coach Hannah Sunday tied the single-game record for goals in a game with seven in a Bison win.
- Bucknell is 14-0 all-time against Gannon
- The Bison defeated the Golden Knights last season at the Bison Invitational, 17-9.
- Hyham scored four goals to lead the Bison in her first career game at Kinney Natatorium.
- The Bison will have a two-week break before it heads to Cambridge, Mass. for the Harvard Invitational on March 2.
