About the BisonÂ
- After taking on seven tough non-conference opponents with a combined record of 32-22-6, the Bison open up Patriot League play on Saturday at home against Lafayette.Â
- The Bison enter league action with a pair of wins over Niagara (4-1) and Towson (1-0) along with a 0-0 draw with Saint Francis (Pa.).Â
- Last week was a tough one, as Bucknell's late two-goal flurry against William & Mary was answered by the Tribe, who walked away with a wild 3-2 victory at Emmitt Field last Thursday. Then on Sunday in Philadelphia, Saint Joseph's broke open a 1-1 deadlock with four second-half goals in a 5-1 verdict.
- The William & Mary game was a crazy one, with four goals scored in the final 11:13. The Bison trailed 1-0 all the way into the 79th minute, when Carly Baggott headed home a corner kick from Holly Burns. Less than three minutes later, Kate Henesey was hauled down in the box, and Claire Mensi converted the penalty kick for a 2-1 Bucknell lead. But William & Mary scored in the 86th and 89th minutes to steal the win.Â
- Gabby Bair scored Bucknell's lone goal at Saint Joseph's.Â
- Mensi and Jenna Marek share the team lead with two goals apiece. Bair, Baggott, Emilene Parham and Bailey Hurst have one apiece. Burns has a team-high two assists.Â
- The Bison allowed only four goals in the first six games of the season before being touched up for eight in the two games last week.Â
- Goalkeeper Theresa Adu-Attobrah ranks third in the Patriot League with an .868 save percentage, and her 6.57 saves per game are second-most in the league.Â
About Lafayette/Series HistoryÂ
- The Leopards started the season 3-0 with victories over Villanova (1-0), Delaware State (5-1) and Saint Peter's (3-0), but since then they have dropped four in a row to Delaware (1-0), Hartford (2-0), Fairfield (4-0) and Central Connecticut (1-0).Â
- Alex Stanford recorded a hat trick against Delaware State, then added two more goals against Saint Peter's, and she is tied for the Patriot League lead with five goals on the season. Krista Kissell has two goals, while Mason Worthington and Caitlin Balmer have one apiece.Â
- Maggie Pohl has played every minute in goal for the Leopards and has 40 saves with nine goals against for an .816 save percentage.
- Lafayette has qualified for the Patriot League Tournament in each of the last two seasons and will be looking to make it three straight postseason appearances for the first time in school history. The Leopards were 3-5-1 in league play last season and fell 1-0 to Boston University in the Patriot League Tournament quarterfinals.Â
- Lafayette was picked seventh in this year's Patriot League preseason poll, three spots below Bucknell.
- Bucknell is 21-6-2 all-time against Lafayette, and the Bison carry a 16-game unbeaten streak (14-0-2) in the series. The Leopards' last win came in 2002 by a 2-0 count in Lewisburg.Â
- Last season in Easton, Carly Baggott scored a dramatic goal with 45 seconds remaining in regulation to lift the Bison to a 1-0 win.
Up NextÂ
- The Bison will be in Washington, D.C. to face American on Saturday, Sept. 22 at 2 p.m. The Eagles have a league-best 5-1-2 record, and they open league play this Sunday at home against Boston University. Â
