Bucknell at a Glance
• Bucknell's meet against Boston University and Richmond will be its first scored event of the 2018-19 campaign. The Bison opened their season on Sept. 29 by hosting UMBC in a non-scored meet; they won seven events, with Maggie Wyngowski leading the way with victories in the 100 IM and 400 IM.
• In 2017-18, the Bison went 6-3 (4-2 Patriot League) in dual meets. They posted their most overall and conference wins since 2014-15, when they went 7-4 (4-3 Patriot League).
• Bucknell went on to place fourth (423 points) at the 10-team Patriot League Championships and third (309 points) at the 24-team ECAC Championships.
• Wyngowski (1st), Julianna Foss (1st), Emma Hadley (2nd) and Lindsay Smalec (2nd) were Bucknell's 2018 All-Patriot League honorees. In addition, Wyngowski became the second Bison to be named the Rookie of the Patriot League Championships.
• Of Bucknell's 2018 All-Patriot League selections, only Foss was lost to graduation. The Bison also returned 2017 All-Patriot League picks Abigail Rosenberg (1st), Hadley (1st) and Julie Byrne (2nd).
• Two school-record holders are on the 2018-19 roster: Rosenberg (100 freestyle, 50.42; 200 freestyle, 1:48.29) and Wyngowski (200 breaststroke, 2:14.98; 400 IM, 4:17.80).
• Returnees Byrne (200 medley), Emily Gorham (200 freestyle, 800 freestyle), Hadley (400 medley), Smalec (400 medley, 400 freestyle, 800 freestyle) and Rosenberg (400 medley, 400 freestyle, 800 freestyle) were members of school record setting relay teams.
• The program welcomed 11 newcomers in 2018-19. They hail from nine different states: Pennsylvania (3), Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Texas and Virginia.
Boston University at a Glance/Series History
• Boston University is currently 0-2 (0-1 Patriot League) on the season after falling to Lehigh (141-159) and Boston rival Northeastern (128-172) in its season-opening competition on Oct. 6.
• In 2017-18, the Terriers posted a 3-8 (2-3 Patriot League) record. They went on to place fifth at the Patriot League Championships with 385 points.
• Boston University holds a 3-1 lead in the all-time series against Bucknell. The Bison downed the Terriers for the first time a season ago.
• Last year, Bucknell edged Boston University, 167-133, at the Competition Pool. The Bison won seven events and posted 13 runner-up finishes, with Maggie Wyngowski (100 breaststroke, 200 breaststroke, 200 IM) and Emma Hadley (100 backstroke, 200 backstroke) scoring multiple victories.
Richmond at a Glance/Series History
• Richmond is set to open its 2018-19 campaign at Bucknell.
• In 2017-18, the Spiders went 5-5. They were narrowly edged by Duquesne, 567-558, at the A-10 Championships.
• An A-10 dynasty, Richmond has won 15 of its past 17 titles.
• This will be the second meeting between the Bison and Spiders.
• Bucknell and Richmond met for the first time during the 2016-17 campaign; the Spiders prevailed, 179-119, at Kinney Natatorium despite a trio of third-place finishes by Julianna Foss.
A Look Ahead
• The Bison next host Johns Hopkins on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 2 p.m. After that event, which occurs during Bucknell's Homecoming weekend, the team will host a reception for parents, alumni and friends of the program in the McGee Room.
