The Bison Host Lafayette on Saturday and Appalachian State on Sunday
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Bucknell field hockey went on the road to take on the seventh-ranked team in the nation Tuesday, falling 5-0 to Penn State. It was the Bison's fourth game against a nationally-ranked opponent this season.
The Bison dropped to 8-7 overall, with more than half the losses coming to teams that were nationally ranked at the time of the game. The Nittany Lions improved to 12-4 with their third straight win.
Abby Myers scored twice and Katie Dembrowski added one goal to help Penn State take a 3-0 lead at the half. Moira Putsch and Anna Simon each tacked on a goal in the second half.
Putsch factored in on four of the team's five goals. She registered assists on both of Myers's goals and on Simon's goal.
M.C. Evans had two of Bucknell's eight shots. Leah Fogelsanger had the team's lone shot on goal.
Bucknell has already clinched a spot in the Patriot League Tournament, but seeding is on the line as the Bison host Lafayette on Saturday at 2 p.m. They close the regular season with a home game against Appalachian State on Sunday at 1 p.m.
