LEWISBURG, Pa.- With the hiring of Ashton Odiorne, Bucknell Field Hockey head coach Kelsey Kolojejchick dipped into a known pool for her second assistant coach, as she tabbed a fellow North Carolina alumnae to round out her staff. Like Kolojejchick, Odiorne brings a championship pedigree to the Bison program, as the Orange & Blue seeks to take the next step after completing a ten-win campaign in 2025.Â
"I am very excited and grateful for the opportunity to join the Bucknell field hockey team as an assistant field hockey coach and to work with such incredible coaches, Kelsey and Ali," said Odiorne. "I look forward to contributing to the development and success of our student-athletes and the program."
Kolojejchick spoke glowingly about her fellow Tar Heel:Â
"We are beyond excited for Ashton to join our staff, she brings such great energy and is highly motivated and disciplined and will be a fantastic addition to our team.  She was a defender that will have contributions in all positions but her biggest strengths will be with our defensive line and defensive mids. Coming from a high caliber program at UNC, interning at an Ivy institution and completing her fifth year at another great academic institution I think Ashton fits in perfectly with what we are trying to accomplish here at Bucknell, striving for competitive excellence on the field all while obtaining high standards of academic excellence in the classroom. We cannot wait to get started this fall season!"
Odiorne spent four seasons for the Tar Heel as a defender, assisting the Tar Heels in winning two national championships (2022 & 2023) and taking home the ACC title in every single campaign. During the 2024 season, she and the UNC defense posted seven shutouts in the eight games she made an appearance.Â
After graduating from UNC, she had a brief stint at the University of Penn as a field hockey intern, handling social media and advanced data.Â
She spent her graduate season of 2025Â at Villanova, where Odiorne played and started all 18 games, including a 2-1 win over No. 15 St. Joe's and guided the program back to the Big East Tournament. The Wildcats battled No. 7 Liberty to a 3-1 defeat. Nova held Liberty to zero shots in the first period and tied the game at 1-1 in the final stanza before the ranked Flames broke through for two goals.Â
Ordione graduated from North Carolina in 2024 where she earned dual degrees in Political Science and Peace, War, and Defense. She is expected to earn a graduate certificate from Villanova next month in Higher Education and Leadership.Â
Bucknell field hockey will return this fall with an action-packed schedule.Â
