Althouse Ties Bucknell Wins Record as Field Hockey Blanks La Salle, 1-0
10/18/2026 2:27:00 PM | Field Hockey
LEWISBURG, Pa. – Sarah Althouse, one of five Bucknell seniors honored before the game, earned a seven-save shutout to tie the school record for career goalkeeper wins as the Bison clipped La Salle 1-0 on Sunday at sunny Graham Field. Bella Notaro scored the game's only goal in the second quarter to help Bucknell to its second win in three days after a grueling shootout verdict on the road at Colgate on Friday night.
Althouse had to make four saves in the first few minutes of the game as La Salle (5-10) had Bucknell (6-7) under pressure early. She made three more in the third quarter and got a little help from senior back Julia Corropolose's two defensive saves as the Bison withstood a run of penalty corners.
Those would be La Salle's only two major flurries, as the Bison had the ball in the Explorers' half for most of the day. Bucknell outshot La Salle 23-14, with Notaro leading the way with five shots along with four each from Ryane Fisahn and Gracie Kothari.
After La Salle attempted the first five shots of the game, Bucknell fired the next 15. Notaro had a good look from the left flank saved by Abby Boggs, and then Alexis Schulz's follow-up rip stuck the goalpost.
Notaro got the Bison on the board with 10:18 left in the second quarter. Sally Hunter set the sequence in motion with a crossing feed from the right side. Notaro gathered and fired a shot that was initially blocked by a defender, but she stuck with it and popped in her own rebound for her fourth goal of the season, tying Corropolese for the team lead.
GOAL!!! Bella Notaro gives the Bison the lead early in the second quarter. #rayBucknell Watch: https://t.co/s5TXELuRxd @ESPN | @PatriotLeague https://t.co/Yed2nD5LX2

The Bison have had trouble at times seeing out games in the final minute, but they managed the ball well at the corner flag to close this one out and secure the team's first shutout since the season-opener against Ball State.
Althouse, a two-time All-Patriot League goalie, recorded her 11th career shutout, which is eighth-most in program history. Her 31st career win gives her a share of the team record along with Maureen Breslin (1995-98) and Sonja Wettergreen (1999-2002).
Althouse, Corropolese, Fisahn, Lauren Sanford, and Katie Lintz were all recognized in Senior Day ceremonies prior to the game. All five started and contributed to the win.
The Bison are back in action on Friday at Lehigh before returning home to face Lock Haven on Tuesday, Oct. 27.
