About Bucknell
- The Bison lost its seventh consecutive game under the Graham Field lights on Friday night to #20 Lafayette in a 2-1 heartbreaker. Bucknell trailed 2-0 before Carolyn Schiavo scored her first collegiate tally late in the fourth quarter. The Orange & Blue launched a furious drive but time ran out on the Bison.Â
- The loss dropped Bucknell to 0-4 in conference action and eliminated the Bison from the conference tournament for the first time since 2007.Â
- Bucknell is in the position of playing spoiler and can deal a devastating blow to Colgate's hopes when the designated league rivals meet up on Friday in Hamilton.Â
- The Orange & Blue will celebrate Senior Day on Sunday against La Salle.Â
- The Bison still have plenty to play for in the last four games. If Bucknell wins the final four contests, the Bison will finish 8-7 for the first back-to-back winning seasons since 2008 & 2009.Â
- The game will be streamed on ESPN+. The link is available in this preview and on the Bucknell field hockey schedule page. Live Stats will also be available on the Bucknell field hockey schedule page. Live updates will be posted on the Bucknell Field Hockey X page.
- Bucknell finished 10-7 overall and 4-2 in Patriot League play during the 2025 season and clinched a spot in the Patriot League Tournament for the 18th consecutive season. The 10 wins marked the first time Bucknell hit double-digits since 2018. The Orange & Blue repeated as the third seed and faced second-seeded Lafayette in the Patriot League Semifinals. The Bison dueled the Leopards but for the second straight year dropped a 2-1 game to Lafayette.Â
- Head coach Kelsey Usefara enters her fifth season in Lewisburg. Her 35 career wins are fourth-most in Bucknell history. Bucknell has made the Patriot League Tournament every year under her direction.
- Graduation and transfers impacted the Bison roster. Bucknell lost two-time Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year, Kira Leclercq, and All-Patriot League midfielders Gianna Puorro and Nicky Punt to diploma-receiving. 2025's leading goal-scorer Reese Czajkowski transferred to Penn.Â
- However, the team heavily restocked with nine freshmen. The newcomers have been a huge boost for the Bison, with most of them starting and playing significant minutes while displaying elite athleticism on the pitch.Â
- Bucknell was projected to finish fourth in the Patriot League preseason poll. American was picked to finish first followed by Lafayette, reigning champion Boston, and Bucknell as the four teams selected to make the tournament. Holy Cross, Lehigh, and Colgate rounded out the poll.
- Goalkeeper Sarah Althouse was named the Patriot League Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year. The senior finished sixth nationally in save percentage (.781) in 2025.Â
- Althouse ranks third in wins (29) all-time at Bucknell.Â
- Senior forward Ryane Fisahn and junior Sally Hunter joined Althouse on the All-Patriot League Preseason Team. Â
- Althouse and Katie Lintz were named captains.Â
- Eight different Bison have scored Bucknell's 13 goals. Julia Corropolese paces the Bison with four goals, all occurring on penalty corners.Â
- Bucknell has not tallied an open-field score since Bella Notaro's insurance goal against Cornell on Sept. 6.Â
- Corropolese is tied for first in the circuit in defensive saves (3).Â
Scouting Colgate
- The Raiders have been remarkably even, scoring 23 goals and allowing 23 goals.
- Colgate enters the game on a three-game losing streak, dropping matches to American, Cornell, and Georgetown.Â
- In conference play, the Raiders have blanked Lehigh and fallen to American and Lafayette. A loss to Bucknell would virtually eliminate them from the Patriot League Tournament.Â
- Colgate went 4-13 overall and 0-6 in conference action in 2025 but finished with the season with three straight overtime losses, suggesting a marked improvement as the campaign continued.Â
- Morgan Willis leads the team in goals (8) and points (20). Her eight goals are tied for second in the PL.Â
- The Raiders have split time between two goalkeepers. Kennedy Glinn has been the superior statistical option with a .775 save percentage.Â
- Gareth Terrett enters his first season as Colgate's head coach after a successful assistant stint at nearby Cornell.Â
Series History with the Raiders
- Bucknell leads the all-time series, 40-11-3 and has won the last 19 of 20 meetings. Colgate has not scored on Bucknell since 2022.Â
Scouting La Salle
- The Explorers are 4-9 overall and 1-3 in the A-10. They defeated Lock Haven 2-1 for its sole conference victory.
- Opponents have punished La Salle's defense, scoring 45 goals.Â
- La Salle went 7-11 overall and 2-4 in A-10 play in 2025. They did not qualify for the conference tournament.Â
- Tilly Diedrichsen leads the team in goals (5) and points (10). Three of her five goals arrived in the 8-8 mollywhopping of New Haven.Â
- Abby Boggs has played most of the minutes in the cage and has been under siege, collecting 125 saves.Â
- MacKenzie Allessie is another first-year head coach that Bucknell faces. Allessie, a 2023 graduate from Penn State, spent the last two years at Saint Francis where she went 24-13 (losing once to Bucknell), before departing after the school's drop to Division III.Â
Series History with the Explorers
- Bucknell holds the 18-11 advantage in the series which dates back to 1979. The two teams met every year from 1979-1995 but haven't played since 2009, a 3-2 Bison win in overtime.Â
